If you had to create a NBA Award, what would it be
So it's early morning here, can't sleep so I started thinking, what if it was up to one of us to create an award for the NBA.
Picture this, you are asked by David Stern to come up with any type of award that can be given for any accomplishment throughout the season, what would it be.
For me I would go with either:
Sophomore of the year: Plain and simple, awarded to the best performer sophomore that year. Could also see a decrease in "sophomore slumps"
Veteran of the year: Awarded to a veteran over a certain age, who plays less then a certain amount of minutes that comes off the bench and contributes most to their team.
I know they might not sound too good, but hey I can't sleep and it's 5 in the moring

Titles are overrated
Re: If you had to create a NBA Award, what would it be
A simple Player of the Year award with a defined emphasis placed on the total game of basketball would be fine with me. it would often go to the MVP but not always.

I would use this idea also, but changed ever-so-slightly..
Player of the Year: Would be what the MVP SHOULD be (at least in my mind)... someone that adds a ton of value to their team, but the "necessity" of being a top 3 team in the league (BS that the MVP turned in to that) would not be tied in. Think KG in his Minn days, Kobe post-Shaq/pre-Gasol, etc.
Player of the Year and MVP could go to the same player, but PoY should be the most impressive, while MVP can still be the BS popularity/best-player-on-best-team award it has unfortunately morphed in to

LMAO at some of these awards. Just to make it more interesting, should say who'd win your award based on the play this season
