Default P.J. Hairston arrested for pot

Durham police have charged North Carolina leading scorer P.J. Hairston with marijuana possession following a traffic stop. Police spokeswoman Kammie Michael says in an email that officers stopped Hairston at a license checkpoint Wednesday night. Police also charged passengers Miykael Faulcon and Carlos Sanford with marijuana possession. All three were released on $1,000 unsecured bonds.

He passed drug tests, so he wasn't under the influence, but he was driving without a license.

Two things:

1) PJ was driving a rental car (a Yukon, roughly $130 per day) and we don't know whose name it is registered under. If it comes out that a booster payed for it for PJ, he's screwed and so come the NCAA violations to the basketball program.

2) A gun was found outside the car. Hasn't be released as to who owns it. Police are running prints, ballistics, and what not.

If everything remained as it is, meaning PJ only gets the possession charge, then it might be OK. It would depend on the punishment Roy and UNC gives him. I honestly don't see the big deal about that. What college kid doesn't somke it up? He was just dumb enough to get caught... Without a license, driving with people he shouldn't be with...

However, if ANY of the other stuff comes back to him, then he's gone and hopefully he wasn't dumb enough to do anything that would be brought back on the basketball program.

Love PJ, but he's an god damn fool for putting himself in that situation. If he's off the team and the rest is fine, UNC won't even make the NIT next year. They will have literally zero wing bench players. One of the reasons why Wiggins was sorely needed, considering the injury problems from the last few seasons.

Nevermind what this means for PJ. (imo) he's the best pro g/f prospect UNC has had since the Dean Smith era.

I agree on PJ's ability. Best wing commit since JR Smith (and he didn't even come here). Would really suck to see him ousted and basically his career be ****ed - I guess he could get another chance somewhere else? Maybe in that case it would be good because until the 2nd half of this past season his time at UNC been a waste. I felt he was the best player from day 1 last year on the roster, and he's not even starting games until the 2nd half or even last third of the season basically. Roy held him back greatly. If he went somewhere he could be the man he'd easily average 20+ PPG.

The annoying part is, do you know how many NBA players, good ones at that, Roy chose not to recruit because of red flags during their recruitment? There are current, or recent, allstars in the league that likely would have ended up at UNC had Roy bent the rules just a little bit.

He has a comprehensive process before he even considers offering a kid a scholarship. And this shit still happens.

I'm tired of college sports and I hate teenagers.

Source says gun has no connection to PJ. Was never worried about that anyway. It's the SUV and why PJ was there in the first place.
