I created a thread at the beginning of this season saying this year would be important in determining LeBron's legacy because he was finally playing in the West. To be fair to LeBron the Lakers were sitting fourth in the conference when he had an injury and he still has the upcoming years to help make his case in evaluations of his career. But missing the playoffs this year if it is confirmed reinforces the view that his victories in the East have been inflated in value and also support the idea that victories in the West are more notable.

Maybe they need to try harder against Western teams since they are the real opposition and the LA fans will roast them if they are witnessed losing at home or they are more affected by travel. Regular season games in any event although the regular season's value as a test of endurance and consistent greatness is undervalued.
