For anyone who doesnt know....the OP is about 6'7'' and is filled with a lifetime of hate for small players not seeing the value of bigmen. Hes been frozen out with good post position too many times to rep the little guys.

That said....he has a point about people generally wanting those like them to root for. I watched in the early 90s a lot of kids who loved Muggsy Bogues for the same reason. He made it feel like they had a shot.

But....

Steph Curry isnt popular because hes small. Hes popular with people who dont even follow basketball. I know women in love with him and deeply envious of his family. He has to be the most likable bigtime star ive ever seen. Everyone else had something you could hate. Jordan was a dick. So was Bird. And Kobe. Lebron is a douche. Shaq was jealous and a bit of a clown. Duncan you cant really hate but hes not putting himself out there either. Just does his job the right way and makes no waves. Magic....magic personality wise was closest to Currys wholesome hard to hate personality. Maybe Steve Nash too? But Nash wasnt as in the spotlight. And he never actually won anything to put him out front of the sport.

Curry has the total package. Hes just a straight up....nice guy...always smiling....never a bad word for anyone...ALWAYS repping his teammates...beautiful family...even great commercials. Hes got his kids running around melting hearts on twitter.....a hot mom...a dad everyone is nostalgic about. Google his wifes name and see how women are in love with her. Everyone from grandmas to strippers love his wife. I read a porn star tweeting about how Kyrie ****ed up trying to make a ho with face tattoos into Ayesha Curry.

And all that isnt why hes so popular either.

Hes popular because hes arguably....the most spectacular player of all time. Hes not just on a whole other level excitement wise from Jordan, Magic, and so on. But hes right there is a reasonable selection for most exciting....captivating.....spectacular..."What the **** was that...." player in the history of the game.

This guy is coming down the court...hitting whole rosters with full speed inside out crossovers...into a behind the back....hopstep....fadeaway.....29 footer. Under pressure. Go watch some hall of famers career top ten plays. That guy is making like....3 plays a week as good as the nicest moves some legends ever made.

You can say in all honesty...without a speck of hyperbole...that he can stroll up and wet a 35 footer on such a regular basis....you arent surprised by it anymore. The best proof of how great he is really...is when he misses an absurd shot.

You watch some of the greats. Some of the real elite shooters. Say Reggie Miller. he jab steps a couple times and hoists up 28 footer that misses when the coach had a play setup....you can see Larry Brown and the bench like:




"Ooooooooooooh...we got a badass over here!"

Larry after the game is talking about how the ygotta "Play the right way" and get the right looks. Reggie has the green light.....but he needs to be reasonable.

He will walk across half court like hes never played this sport before and doesnt know what a bad shot is..wave off the play....go one on one...or two...hoist up a 27 foot buuuuuuuuuuuuuushit ass shot that misses. Cut to the coach...other players?






They dont give a shit. Hes broken basketball. Hes beyond 80 years of history telling us what a bad shot is.

Hes got the kind of handles that make you want to fight him when he gets you on an island and girls are watching. Hes throwing floaters off the chins of the gods to fall and get nothing but net. Hes sending passes through dimensional rifts to just appear in the shooters hand unbeknownst to the defense.

Point out anyone in the history of the sport that spectacular who wasnt popular.

Hes got every corner of the sports fan world on his side. Hes got rappers writing him into every third song. I heard a rhyme along the lines of "If you survive dont tell none...cause ill shoot in the middle of the court like Dell son" and had to laugh just yesterday. Hes got the grandmas...the hoes....the hood...the surburbs....the legends....the kids....you dont get all that for being short.

Steph Curry is so popular because he is just...****ing nasty. Hes totally...completely...out of line. And it just so happens he ended one of the best seasons a point ever had....with a ring....and coming back even better....winning the most games ever...and he comes off an injury to break the NBA record for point in an overtime?

Hes got guys with tens of billions of dollars ready to end it all all the spot:



Hes got teammates walking off in celebration before an AWFUL shot even goes in:




He is the first player in my life...you literally can do nothing about. you cant stop someone from taking what would be the worst shot of some peoples careers. Defense is there to prevent good shots. You want a bad one? fine. Nobody can stop you just pulling up like an idiot. Problem is...he makes it like....30% of the time. So you have to guard it....if you just let him take a bad shot...he will make it 40%. You have to defend more of the court to slow him than anyone has ever demanded before.

He is rewriting the game. Hes the modern westernized Japanese army mowing down the charge of the last Samurai because they bought guns. Hes that first girl when you were in 7th grade to develop...and redefine what pretty was till the other girls caught up in 9th grade. Hes playing NBA 2k21 on the Xbox 4 while we are still playing Bulls vs Blazers on the Sega genesis.

Hes so far ahead of his time the world may never catch up to it. Kinda like how people thought all points would be 6'9'' by now back when Magic came in. Pat Riley said it....in 25 years Magic Johnson will be normal. But here we are.....where are the 6'9'' floor generals getting 13 assists a game? Steph might be that. So far ahead...the sport doesnt replicate him for a generation. Your grandchildren will not believe you when you explain with total accuracy some of the plays this guy is making. He is what would make us all look like lying old nostalgic haters in 30 years if not for youtube proving it.

Thats why hes popular. He has never been seen before.

Hes a new concept.

He also happens to be an awesome guy.

Why are we looking for some subconscious reason hes popular?

Hes popular because he has to be.

You CANT be that good and appear this wholesome and genuine...and not be popular.

Can't say he is the player with the most MVPs ( kareem is tied)
Has the most FMVP, but the award is named after Russell
Can't say he had the team with the most regular season wins
Can't say he was best offensive player
Can't say he was the best defensive player ever
Can't say he is the best in game dunker or best slam dunk contest dunker.
His ft line dunk was surpassed by Ibaka's ft line.
Can't say he was the first unanimous MVP.

After this season, he will be most remembered for his crying gif and for his 1-9 record without Pippen.
