Why do people never bring this up when discussing Muhammad Ali?
They guy was banned from boxing from age 25 - 29 for opposing the Vietnam war. He had no prime. He was still young and growing when he got banned and was already on the natural decline when he returned. Yet he is still considered the GOAT by many despite having NO PRIME. We have never seen him at his best, we have no idea how good he could have been.
Thats amazing. He must be the greatest.

He was banned for his draft dodging conviction not because of his opposition. Lots of regular Americans opposed the shitty war but still had to fight.
It's too bad he didn't suck off a state senator to pressure the military into giving him a bogus deferment like Bill Clinton or have a politician daddy like W to give him a cushy job in the Air Force flying fighter jets but only inside the safety of US borders.

Yeah and he was lucky to escape 5 years in prison for it too. Such bullshit. Pretty much irreversibly handicapped the career of the GOAT.

That what separates Ali from Tyson. He was just a more skilled boxer than Iron Mike who relied on his speed and athletic ability.

God damn kids. You think no one talks about this? You read his wiki page and now you're going to enlighten us?
It's one of the defining moments of his life and legacy and a constant part of his narrative.

My favorite athlete of all time. I didn't know much about him until recently this summer to be honest. I always knew his name, my father knows his story and my father only follows WWE Raw but said everyone knew who Ali was and that his father was a big fan. My brother told me to watch a ton of documentaries he knew of Muhammad Ali. He is the greatest in my mind as an athletic representative of the world.
