I deliberately phrased it as “hesitate to get rid of”, not “hold on to”. There is a difference.

for holding on to statues erected specifically to honor individuals for what amounted to treason in the name of the preservation of slavery. And to top it off, statues erected to serve as political statements during the height of Jim Crow and the Civil Rights movement. The Republican Party... the party of old things... Not a great slogan.
As I’ve said many times, I don’t get the confederate statue thing. It’s weird to have statues to memorialize what are basically traitors. It’s weird to celebrate the confederacy, which was only a thing for a few years and was literally anti-American.

Do I personally care about these statues? No. But I would also be against taking them down because this is just the first act. Once you legitimize this, it doesn’t end with the confederates. They’re coming for Jefferson, Washington, Columbus, maybe even Lincoln.

Prosecutors Seek Records on Cohen’s ‘Back Channel’ With Giuliani

...

Now federal prosecutors have requested the emails and documents from Mr. Costello, according to a copy of the request, which cited an investigation into “possible violations of federal criminal law” but offered no further detail. The request, sent last week, was for any documents related to Mr. Cohen as well as any bills Mr. Costello had sent him.

In one of the emails, sent by Mr. Costello in April 2018 after a conversation with Mr. Giuliani, he assured Mr. Cohen, “Sleep well tonight, you have friends in high places.” He added, in a postscript: “Some very positive comments about you from the White House. Rudy noted how that followed my chat with him last night.”

A spokesman for the federal prosecutors, from the United States Attorney’s office in Manhattan, declined to comment.

Lol, I know how you phrased it, but "hesitant to get rid of" doesn't aptly describe conservatives' zeal in defending these monuments... or their zeal in a lot of other instances.

I don't think the slippery slope argument works here. I appreciate the concern, and if we're not careful, the movement can go too far, but it's important to remember that as sordid as a lot of US history as been, the Washingtons and Jeffersons are celebrated for their contributions and achievements as patriots and founders... Lincon for his eventual stance on slavery and efforts to maintin the Union... Columbus for his voyage. All have negative blots on their legacies (Columbus most of all... terrible human being) but none had statues built to honor them specifically for the reprehensible things they had done or as traitors.

the house voted 420-0 in favor of a resolution calling for the public release of the muells report.

then lindsey graham, acting like a man under extreme kompromat pressure, squashed the resolution reaching the senate.

You know the resolution doesn’t actually do anything from a legal standpoint, right? It’s literally just congress putting an opinion on the record.

right, and the reason lindsey graham is so opposed to his or the senate's opinion being on the record is...

Well according to Lindsay, we can never have too many special counsels. Look, these investigations can only be considered "witch-hunts" when they have potential to damage one's team legally, politically or both.

Speaking of investigations...

ex-Fox News reporter plans to tell Congress about outlet's role in Trump hush money story

The journalist's lawyer appeared on The Beat with Ari Melber and basically told Congress that they should subpoena her client in order to circumvent the Fox News NDA. News of this apparently reached Rep Cummings and he was like, "Word? Aight... sure thing!" Someone shoud open a special counsel investigation into collusion between this journalist, MSNBC and Congress.

And another one...

Quote:
NY attorney general: Evidence shows Trump misused charity

Insider testimony, emails and other evidence show President Donald Trump turned his charitable foundation into a wing of his White House campaign, New York's attorney general said in a new court filing Thursday.

State Attorney General Letitia James, a Democrat, detailed her case against the foundation in a 37-page court filing in a lawsuit that seeks $2.8 million in restitution and an order banning Trump and his three eldest children from running any New York charities for 10 years.

James said the evidence of banned coordination between campaign officials and the foundation includes deposition testimony from Trump Organization executive Allen Weisselberg and emails he exchanged with former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

In one email, a Trump company vice president asked Lewandowski for guidance on how to distribute the money that was raised.

It's not fair that campaigns have to abide by all of these arcane rules and regulations seeking to keep our elections at least partically clean. This is starting to border on harassment.

status update- snitches are still snitching.

Quote:
Zoe Tillman
‏@ZoeTillman

NEW: Rick Gates — still cooperating! Mueller's office asks to delay his sentencing again, as Gates "continues to cooperate with respect to several ongoing investigations." They ask for another 60 days until the next update

Quote:
Michael Flynn has finished cooperating with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, but the information he provided is still part of other ongoing criminal investigations, prosecutors said in court on Friday.

Federal prosecutors in Virginia want to restrict sharing some special counsel memos of interviews with Flynn because of the "ongoing investigation" into matters he shared with investigators.

In court Friday, the prosecutor said the ongoing probes were unrelated to Flynn's Turkish lobbying case -- raising the possibility it touches on Flynn's ties to the Trump campaign, transition, administration or the Russian government.

The prosecutor in court Friday stopped himself after he acknowledged other US attorneys may be looking at what Flynn shared with the special counsel.

"At least one other district," he said, correcting himself after first saying "districts," before asking to withdraw his statement in court representing the number of ongoing investigations.

from beyond the snitching grave even.

Roger Stone's case does not commence until NOVEMBER.. 8 months, jeez

Mueller report should be done long before that. Bit surprising imo. Stone must definitely have dirt on Trump and knowledge of the source of the hack, but Mueller may not be able to flip Stone like he did Cohen and probably Manafort..

Lol.

Yeah, Stone MUST be the key to collusion. So much so, that Mueller isn’t going to bother to stick around for his case.
