Default Dwight wants trade to Brooklyn before the Draft

Quote:
Hennigan will immediately be confronted with making a decision on All-Star center Dwight Howard’s future. Howard is signed through the 2012-13 season, but another fallout with management has left him wanting a trade soon. Howard will push for a trade to the Brooklyn Nets before the June 28 NBA draft to clear the way for Nets free agent Deron Williams to re-sign with the Nets and partner in the new Brooklyn arena next season.

Why even get Van Gundy fired if he was going to leave anyway?

Considering Lopez can't be traded until he's resigned too, then yeah this isn't happening before the draft. With all the reports of other teams liking howard for a rental now i strongly doubt the nets have a shot at him anymore.

False. Nets can trade his rights since he is a RFA. Then Orlando would get a deal done.

Really think about that.

Why would we trade for a guy who can then possibly be signed to a ludicrous offer sheet we'd likely be forced to match just to please Dwight (if true)?

Second, I honestly don't think you can trade a guy who has been tendered a QO yet. Might be wrong tho.

I would imagine it was a team issue. If Dwight had problems with the coach, you can bet that other players had problems too. I've heard the term "negative" when people talk about Van Gundy. It was bound to happen sooner, or later.

Now they have better candidates that are free. Sloan is a free agent now.

The Nets can't trade Lopez or Wallace prior to the draft. A Howard trade prior to the draft is impossible. (Note: Orlando is not trading Howard to the Nets for Lopez S&T and Wallace S&T for big money and no good draft picks. That's a pipe dream for net fans.)

What leverage does Howard have? Threaten to go there are season end? They can still trade him as rental. Deron might not wait. Clearly they are not joined at the hip as we saw last year on trade day.

You can't trade rights to an RFA. It's illegal.

I see literally zero possibility of a Brooklyn trade before free agency starts. What assets does Brooklyn have? They have some future firsts, Marshon Brooks, Anthony Morrow and the bird rights to 4 FAs (Deron, Lopez, Hump and Gerald Wallace). The bird rights can't be traded on draft night. Hell even if Orlando agreed to trade him, Brooklyn doesn't even have enough salary to send back in any deal for Dwight!

Maybe they could agree to something in principal that would be carried out July 8th, but it's highly unlikely because Brooklyn can't agree to sign and trade any of their FAs legally and that only leaves the possibility of sending Orlando a big fat TPE with minor assets (the firsts, Morrow and Brooks) for the best center in the league.

EDIT: In the time I typed that up, niko went and said the same thing lol.

Dude is dumb, played around with his whole situation.

Even if someone rents Howard, I doubt Deron will wait another season for him.

dwight had his golden opportunity to join the nets at the trade deadline. even if otis smith was really about to send him to la, howard could just walk to the nets freely and still leave the nets with assets. it's going to be very difficult for dwight to come to brooklyn right now because orlando will ask for too much. if i was him i would just say "listen, trade me to the nets right now or i'm giving this team only 5% of my true ability.

i wish he would stop horsing around and tell this team that he wants no part of the magic. he seems to be saying that but they keep wishing to offer him a long-term extension.
