Default Indiana Trade Idea with New York and Clippers !!

Indiana Trades JO (filler maybe Armstrong) to NY for Channing Frye, Francis and 1st round pick for 2008 (protected 1-3). Get Anthony Johnson from Atlanta for a second round pick or Shawne Williams.

Indiana trades Tinsley and Dunleavy for Maggette and Thomas.

New York Lineup

C - Curry/James
F - Jermaine/Lee
SF - Jeffries/Q
SG - Crawford/Q
PG - Marbury/Nate/Armstrong

Looks good to me for NY.

Indiana Lineup

C - Frye/Foster/Harrison
PF - Diogu/Murphy
SF - Granger/Thomas
SG - Maggette/Marquis/Greene
PG - Francis/Johnson/ Mcleod

Coach - Rick Adelman

Isiah loves JO so this trade should be no problem. Clippers need PG and Dunleavy wants his son. I think it is a slam dunk.

What do you think?

I don't know. Frye's trade value is as low as it's ever been. He had a really disappointing season with New York this season.

Personally I don't see anyone else parting with a young PF/Center and a 1st for O'Neil...isiah is the only GM who will do it...Frye does have an upside...he was hampered by injuries this season.

On the one hand, it would be nice if the Pacers could trade JO and get rid of the contracts of Tinsley and Dunleavy both. However, this trade seems to include the Pacers ditching "Shammond Williams" (who I gather is in fact Shawne Williams). Shawne is a guy I'd like to the Pacers hold on to, and I think he may end up being a better player than Danny Granger. Also, this trade does nothing to address the Pacers' biggest need, which is (IMO) a playmaker at one of the guard positions. Maggette is a temporary solution to a major problem. The Pacers need a young guard who can create for himself and others.

Francis is an expirer and the first round pick (maybe unprotected) + Frye is good value for O'Neil. This gives Indiana cap space after one season and chance to sign free agents.

Indiana can get the best deal from New York and no other team. New York is the only team that can provide Pacers with young players, cap space and a worthwhile lottery pick. I would hope for them to swing a deal with Chicago with their young core of players but that will never happen.

O'Neil has a crazy salary, which makes it difficult to move him since he can never be a franchise player. Also, he has way too many injuries and he is just not the same player he once was. Factor in his age and you can see that he is a tough trade.

I am sure New York fans hate O'Neil...but Isiah loves him. He will be moved to ur team and will be ur responsibility soon...just wait and see. i don't see Indiana getting better offers for him.

Damn, I am good ...I called it...JO wants a trade to new York.

If Donnie Walsh takes me as his advisor then the Pacers will be at the top.

It's not about keeping All-Stars..it's about creating a team and as long as O'Neil is on the Pacers they can never be good..he takes up cap space, he is getting old (he might be young in age, but NBA years have caught on to him) and just doesn't provide any outs.
