I just saw my team go through a stubborn coach, and it's because of him we are fighting for a playoff spot instead of being a top 4 seed. Coaches can without a doubt be the problem.
And once again: SVG is no longer concerned with a job he knows he's going to lose. Regardless of what reasons have lead to NY's mediocrity Van Gundy was sick of Howard's garbage so he told the reporter the truth.

And like I said, it's unprofessional for a coach to air the dirty laundry.
At least save it for the book, like Joe Torre did and make some money off it.

In the NBA, it's always the player's fault for being a spoiled brat.
A lot of them are spoiled brats though. Even Phil Jackson, the Zen Master, needed a break.

Was John Elway a brat when he got Dan Reeves fired?

Wow, Howard really has done a fine job of burning his reputation to the ground this season. First with the never ending contract and trade demand bullshit which made him look like a spoiled child. And now this, which reinforces that image and additionally makes him look like a phony idiot.
And I love the way Van Gundy handled this. He didn't do the management any favors, but he just showcased that no one in the NBA keeps it more real than Stan van Gundy.
The irony here is that neither Dwight Howard or Stan van Gundy are part of the reason the Magic can't get over the hump. Dwight Howard is a top 3 franchise player in the NBA, and Stan van Gundy is an above average coach. It's the management who consistently failed to improve the roster, who consistently made awful decisions.

I don't think it was a bad move by SVG to air it out, at least he gets to play the victim role which could actually increase chances of getting a job elsewhere.

Howard is a media whore of epic proportions. He loves to get asked these stupid questions & act like the victim.

Yes many players are difficult to deal with, but dealing with those type players is a coach's job. And the simple fact is a lot of coaches are terrible at 1) dealing with the media and 2) connecting with their players; and I don't get why the only parties criticized are players.

One of the greatest brats of all-time. Just because he became one of the best players of all-time (and ridiculously rated as top 5 when he 100% is not) doesn't mean he wasn't a brat and an asshole. Just like when he refused to play for the Colts.
