Lightbulb Raptors sign Jason Thompson; waive Anthony Bennett

The Toronto Raptors have signed NBA veteran power forward Jason Thompson.

To make room on the roster the Raptors released forward Anthony Bennett. Bennett appeared in 19 games, totaling 28 points, 23 rebounds and 84 minutes.

Raps are so inconsistent on PF, so a good idea to get PF on the waiver wire. Always liked JT too, he was just on a bad team and the Warrios didn't need him.

Good luck to Mr. Bennett. Hope he finds a place he can get some playing time. Don't think he can go back to the 905, right ?

Some more reports on why JT was signed.

Jason Thompson got rave reviews from former teammates James Johnson and Patrick Patterson + Kyle Lowry, who knows him from Philly area.
Masai on Jason Thompson: “From all the homework he’s done, we’re hoping he brings us a good level of character on and off the court."

"He (Thompson) liked our situation and chose our situation." - Masai.

"We just hope he helps us win more ball games down the stretch." - Masai.
So character guy, plus has good chemistry with some of the teammates. Should work out well, but I don't know how much minutes Casey will give him. Insurance policy pickup, even though the PF situation is very inconsistent.

Solid move. He will really help our depth marching towards the playoffs. I personally would rather him or Patterson starting at PF.
