So why hasn't Embiid had surgery yet?
It has now been, what, 20 days since Hinkie said he'd be having surgery in like a week. What's going on?

It's called tanking. Embiid will be traded next year which I think will be the last year of his rookie contract as damaged goods.

this doesn't make sense .. because they would still tank even if he already had the surgery

I don't think it has to be that bad to trade him. They have Okafor and Noel already. Two top young big men. If they play well this season, Philly probably won't even bother with Embiid. Especially if they can get a lotto pick in the 8-15 range for him.
