Kings to retire Peja Stojakovic's number this season
The Sacramento Kings announced today that the #16 jersey of three-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion Peja Stojakovic will be retired on December 16, when the Kings host the Oklahoma City Thunder at Sleep Train Arena. During his eight seasons in Sacramento, the fan-favorite small forward played more games for the Kings than any player during the Sacramento era and had an immeasurable impact on the community both on and off the court.

I would say he deserves it though. Borderline, but I don't see a problem with it. I loved me some Peja back in the day.

They go back to the Rochester Royals, who were contenders in the 40s and 50s (won a title in 1951 with star Bob Davies.) Than to the Cincinnati days of HOF'ers Stokes, Twyman, Robertson and Lucas. Than Omaha City-Kansas City Kings (yes, they had two hometowns at once) where Tiny Archibald comes in (and Sam Lacey I'm surprised his number is retired but not Otis Birdsong's .)
Than you have the current Sac-Town era of Mitch, Vlade, Chris and now Peja.

How about Jerry Lucas? He's easily among the all-time greats of the team, but no jersey retirement for him? He's probably the GOAT who's not had his jersey retired by any team.

What about Bibby, Christie, Hedo, Bobby Jackson, and Scott Pollard?

Wow, I assumed his number was in the rafters. Not in New York either. I'm thinking he maybe declined?
