Unless one side of the floor is all that matters.
Don't underrate Shaq on the defensive end. He was a beast defensively in the playoffs.

Duncan's Finals PER is the 2nd best in Finals history, and that stat doesn't even account for his GOAT-level defense (by far the best of any player on this list).
Who had the highest PER of all time in the finals? Do we have the numbers?

He was certainly elite at points (large points)...but his defense in the 01 Finals, and the 3-Peat as a whole, wasn't in the same stratosphere as 03 Duncan.
50 year old Dikembe was getting whatever he wanted against Shaq...and he was a little flat-flooted when defending the rim.
K-Mart was destroyed by Duncan...Tim made him shoot 33% including one of the worst individual performances in Finals history (3-23 shooting in game 6).
Shaq was the better scorer, for sure...but Duncan was a slightly better rebounder, passer and defender. The two are very close imo.

Well they are very comparable, can't go wrong either way I guess.

Why isn't leonard getting more mentions as the worst?
He had so-so stats and had a team that was clearly superior to his opponent. Also, he was poor in the 1st 2 games then had a few decent performances in the last few games. It was nothing special at all.

Again, it depends on what you want.
Shaq wreaked havoc on opposing defenses...all-time great scoring, underrated passing, one of the best I've ever seen at sealing off shot-blockers (to open the lane for his teammates).
Duncan was more cerebral. Patience, perfect positioning, guard-like court vision. His defense was his biggest asset so raw numbers will never really do him justice.

Good to see another poster appreciating the greatness of Shaq, highlighting several underrated aspects of his game

Kinda weird that there's nobody before 91 in the top 10.

Maybe so but which pre 91 finals would be on there? Magic in 87 had a good one? There were a lot of impressive performances but which of these ten would you remove imo?
