I’m not gonna be too tough on Robert Sacre. Why? Because it’s not easy to be Robert Sacre. The guy is out there fighting to forge his niche in the NBA, but he’s playing behind the league’s premier player at his position. So, if he’s going to see the light of day this season, he knows he’s got to do the dirty work… the stuff that many proven players don’t even consider doing in the preseason… stuff like contesting Blake Griffin slam dunks, even though he knows he faces certain humiliation. For Robert Sacre, fleeing the scene was not an option… so he did what he had to do: get posterized.

Since being inked to his $44 million contract, JaVale McGee has been unable to rip Denver’s starting center spot from the clutches of Kosta Koufos, who was signed for $9 million this summer. Disappointing? Well, yeah, I guess… but watch how he catches halfcourt alley-oops from Andre Miller and dunks them over Blake Griffin! (:19)

http://youtu.be/SZFOt1VnI9o

See, I think Masai Ujiri knew exactly what he was getting himself into here. He’ll let JaVale hammer dunks like this for a couple of months, put butts in seats, then show the highlight reel to opposing GMs and pawn McGee off to the highest bidder—Nene style.

McGee isn't starting because George Karl's George Karl and he like the way McGee and Andre Miller play together. Not because McGee's been outplayed by Koufos or Mozgov or whoever the hell they're starting. Jus'sayin.

Are you sure? That's not what I've been hearing at all. And when I've watched Denver McGee hasn't played all that well.

Jonas Valanciunas, meet Marreese Speights. He’s a 6’10 forward/center who backs up Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol in Memphis, where he averaged 8.8 points per game last season. While Speights most certainly isn’t the All-Star caliber player that Randolph and Gasol are, he’s a far superior athlete. In order to contain Marreese, you may want to keep within arms length around the elbow area, where he’s proficient with the jumper. You’d be wise to stand clear near the rim, though, where he’s liable to drop the hammer on your dome.

Honorable mention to Josh Smith, who threw down a similar dunk over a late-arriving Jason Maxiell. Smith will be rewarded for his efforts in the Throwback Poster segment.

I heard the same thing as Lebowski. By the way, did you see NBA247365 got a shout out from the Ball Don't Lie blog on Yahoo?

Pro Basketball Talk alerted us to a transcript of a recent Woodson interview with MSG Network, as lovingly transcribed by the good folks at NBA247365.com. In it, Woodson lets out a rather charming example of his practice leniency.

Yeah, they sent me a few new visitors yesterday, which was nice. I've been linked there three times now... I always hope they'll end up coming back to my site whenever they need some link material, but that never seems to happen. Oh well, just gotta keep posting and sending e-mails I guess.
