Is there a reason he and people in the NBA shoot like that?

I haven't played ball in years but I remember I could never shoot like that. Like, from above and behind the head. Couldn't throw the ball far enough. This is when I was like 15 or something tho.. Does it naturally become easier with age? Or is it just a technique?

The ball is never supposed to go behind your head. The only player that I can think of that has a nasty shot like that is Carlos Boozer. His J is all f'ed up.

When you have proper technique the ball is supposed to go just passed your forehead before you begin your release. You want everything to be balanced along your shot line with your guide hand being slightly off to the side. Your arms and hands are just for aiming the shot though. The power comes from your lower body.

Fisher puts the ball right behind his head when he shoots. The only problem with doing that is it could be easy to block when you got someone behind you, especially when you're a 6'1 PG.

hmm interesting. IDK. I guess I never practiced it much because if I just shoot how I do I have any range. I could shoot it from halfcourt really easily but when I tried to bring it higher I can barely hit rim from 3 pt. So thought it was pointless to keep at it.
