Default if tim duncan wasnt so selfish. tony parker would have a season MVP by now

duncan clinging onto this dying position. being able to stick in a league that should have shat him out by now due to its futility... him taking advantage of a position that hakeem could come out of retirement and be a top 5 player in.

has cost tony parker league mvp... if duncan retired when he should have ( if the league wasnt putrid garbage ) then parkers stats would be over 20ppg and he would have the stats to go with the record

the spurs are great with or without duncan. he sits and they win every time easly. parkers been running this show since 2007

its pretty sad that he'l go down as a fluke finals mvp winner instead of one of the greats

    cause he was

duncan trying to catch kobe in rings has cost tony parker a legendary top 25 all time career

I could care less about an MVP if my team was winning 50+ games every single year and if I had 3 rings on my hand like TP.

    Didn't Tony just have a 4 pt 2 ast game while TD put up 20 8 & 4?

Parker is such a horrible defender that he should be nowhere near MVP considerations in the NBA. He's never going to be as good as KD/Lebron, even if we just count scoring.

Tony would never win MVP over KD, CP3 or Bran in the league

Funny, because the Spurs hadn't made an NBA Finals with Parker as the "leader" until 36-year-old Duncan had a resurgence.

That's the one brother, plus this old shell of himself Duncan is far superior to prime parker, I've seen Parker sit many times this season while spurs still dominated so pull parkers thing out your ass coz kobes feelin jealous

You're trippin. Duncan has aged as well as anybody. Even as well as your boy Kobe. Don't let the age fool you. Miles for miles, Duncan brought it just as far as Kobe has. Basically his 35 is to Duncan's 38 if not less. Don't fool yourself. And Both had tremendous careers. Duncan isn't chasing anyone. He has been head to head as the top player frankly his entire career outside of these few backside seasons. But similar to Kobe has on his backside, is still easily a top 2 or 3 player at their respective positions. And lol if you think Duncan is holding onto a fading position, because even if you take away that center position, Duncan would still be amongst the top even as a pf. And Just to throw this in, just for the fck of it, Dwight is actually a pretty damn good player. Blame the coach. not Dwight's fault he doesn't fit that 80/'s brand run and gun system that not only doesn't fit him but is an awful system to begin with. Sells tickets, really that's it. Sure Nash did well but let's not pretend those suns teams were built to quality, even in the absence of a talent of amare. System make Dwight look bad and diaw look good.

Lastly, if Parker could have had a top 25 career, it would have because of Duncan. Yeah pop is a great coach, but he would have done what he has without a player the caliber of Duncan. We're talking a very small group of players. Parker isn't near the talent Duncan is. Kobe and Duncan are same tier, and definitely be argued either way. I'd prefer Duncan tbh, that's just me.

Duncan is still better than Parker. It must be amazing playing with such greatness.

The truth is that Parker never really been the best player on the Spurs, even today. Tim Duncan's numbers aren't as pretty as Parker's but he has more overall impact on the game than Parker. That 2007 NBA Finals MVP was a fluke, it should have been Duncan. People get caught up too much with PPG. Duncan's always been the team anchor on both ends of the court, Parker wouldn't be as effective without Duncan on a long term basis. Duncan should have won DPOY last season and he's still going strong this season. Don't get me wrong, Parker is a very good player but the Spurs will always be Duncan's team until he hangs up his sneakers.

Tony Parker isn't and never will be an MVP caliber player.

This. The topic should instead be that Parker wouldn't be in MVP talk if it weren't for Duncan because they wouldn't be winning so much. Check out early last year when Duncan carried the team while Parker was injured - TD had an outstanding year last year - enough to garner all-nba 1st team (an award I wouldn't have imagined he'd be getting at that age).

Surprising that you've come up with this topic when last night:

    Duncan 20 pts / 8 rebs / 4 assts / 2 blks 60%FG 22:21
    Parker 4 pts / 2 asst 22.2% 18:58
