    4 2005 Phoenix Suns

    vs.

    13 2003 Philadelphia 76ers

Preview: The 2005 Phoenix Suns went 62-20 in the regular season before losing to the eventual champion San Antonio Spurs in the WCF. This was the 1st year of the run&gun Suns era led by MVP Steve Nash. Their new up-tempo style of play was succesful and could create problems for teams with all the talent they have. Nash/Amare/Marion were all-stars this season while Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson were also great contributers.

The 2003 76ers went 48-34 in the regular season before losing in the 2nd round of the playoffs. They were led by Allen Iverson of course, in prime form for the 76ers. Iverson did not have much help, but he had key role players like Van Horn and Eric Snow which made them a good overall team.

Iverson vs. Nash will be an exciting battle to watch in this series. The 76ers will have to rely on Snow to slow Nash as much as possible, while the Suns will just have to rely on their golden rule of “Just score more than your opponent” type of basketball as they simply try to outscore the 76ers and win the series.

    Game 1: 76ers 114, at Suns 105

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: A.Iverson 28pts/12ast

Recap: The 76ers go ahead and play the Suns style of play and get the Game 1 win. Iverson had a huge game as he loved the up-tempo pace of the game. A lot of the 76er role players also had a good game as the 76ers shock the Suns to take a 1-0 lead.

    Game 2: at Suns 126, 76ers 124

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Johnson 19pts/10ast/7reb

Recap: In a classic Suns game the Suns take it in a close finish. Down 121-118 with 1:30 left, Joe Johnson hit a clutch 3 to tie it up. Then Amare hit a go ahead jumpshot with 40 seconds left to give the Suns a 2 point lead. The 76ers had a chance to send it to OT but Iverson missed the shot as the buzzer went off. JJ had a near triple-double while Marion had 30 while Amare had 28. Nash finished with 15 assists.

    Game 3: Suns 110, at 76ers 94

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: S.Marion 23pts/13reb on 10/19 FG

Recap: The Suns take a 2-1 lead in the series as the 76ers just did not have enough firepower to keep up with the Suns. Marion had 23 while JJ added 25 for the Suns. It is hard to stop the Sun

    Thanks KG215
This is one I would've really liked to see. Looks like 24 year old James and 23 year old KG went toe to toe in this series. Just reminds you what a beast KG was while his team sucked.

    5 2000 Indiana Pacers

    vs.

    12 2009 Dallas Mavericks

Preview: The 2000 Indiana Pacers went 56-26 in the regular season before losing to the Lakers in the finals. They led by the perimeter duo of Reggie Miller and Jalen Rose, both of which who could put the ball in the hoop. They also the bigman duo of Rik Smith-Dale Davis giving them potentially the tallest starting PF-C in this tournament. Overall this team was well balanced and coached by Larry Legend.

The 2009 Dallas Mavericks 50-32 in the regular season before losing to the Nuggets in the 2nd round of the playoffs. They were impressive in the 1st round defeating the Spurs in 5 games, but fell apart in the 2nd round. They were of course led by Dirk Nowitzki, who had a great year. They also had Jason Terry and Josh Howard playing great basketball. Overall this is the 4th Maverick team in this tournament (3 06 Mavericks, 5 03 Mavericks, and 10 01 Mavericks).

Could this be the 1st upset? The Pacers certainly don

    Game 1: Mavericks 115, at Pacers 94

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: J.Howard 22pts/7reb/4stl

Recap: The Mavericks go into Indiana and send a message. They route the Pacers with some excellent offense, turning it over just 6 times. Dirk had 26/7 while Terry exploded off the bench 29 points. Miller and Rose will need to be more aggressive on offense Game 2.

    Game 2: at Pacers 101, Mavericks 80

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: R.Miller 27pts/5reb on 9/16 FG

Recap: The Pacers come into Game 2 making adjustments on defense and holding the Mavericks who scored 115 in the 1st game to just 80 points in the 2nd game. Overall the Mavericks shot just 39%, even Dirk struggled going 7/18. The series now shifts over to Dallas.

    Game 3: at Mavericks 108, Pacers 62

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 26pts/14reb

Recap: No there is no typo, the Mavericks blow out the Pacers 108-62 in Game 3. This is easily the largest win margin of any game in this tournament thus far. It was just absolutely embarrassing to say the least. The Pacers shot just 30% from the field this game, and had a lot of trouble scoring the basketball. It will be hard to rebound from this one.

    Game 4: at Mavericks 116, Pacers 107

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 39pts/8reb on 14/24 FG

Recap: For the 1st time in the series the game was not a blowout, the Pacers led 89-84 entering the 4th in this offensive shootout, but the Mavericks came in strong starting the 4th with a 17-2 run. This was enough to give them the lead and put the Pacers away for good. Dirk Nowitzki was huge in this crucial game scoring 39points for Dallas. The Mavericks are now one win away from an upset.

    Game 5: Mavericks 105, at Pacers 86

    Box Score: http://whatifsports.com/nba/boxscore...u=1&teamfee=-1

Player of the Game: D.Nowitzki 33pts/11reb on 12/21 FGs

Recap: The Pacers come out low on energy and the Mavericks take advantage finishing the series off. Dirk Nowitzki once again was a tough matchup for the Pacers as they had no answer for the German Bigman. The supporting cast was also strong as they complete the 1st upset of the tournament in 5 games.

    2009 Mavericks Win 4-1

Haha I want to say we finally have our upset but not sure if I can. I guess techinically it is an upset as the Mavericks were a 12 seed while Pacers a 5.

The Mavericks will face the 2005 Suns in the 2nd round in what could be a good series
