According to the 1981-82 NBA Guide, Bird also got 5 steals in back-to-back Finals games, which I think is the only time this has happened for any player in Finals history, and these were the lowest scoring games he had in those Finals or any Finals, I think. Bird showing up big in other facets of the game.

Do you know what "probably" means? He would probably play 6-7 more seasons. Low chance to have more ring, almost impossible to win any fmvp more.

But if he win 2 fmvps and 3 rings before he retires I would rank him better that Bird. Now, he is not better than Bird.

But made the playoffs every year playing for a top 3 franchise in NBA history. Lebron plays for the winniest franchise and misses playoffs.

Yes, even the commentators were talking about Bird doing whatever his team needed against the Rockets. Houston's best defender was Robert Reid and his assignment was Bird. Bird made plenty of passes to Maxwell in that series and nearly matched Moses Malone in rebounding. If you watch the 4th quarter of game 6 in Houston, Bird is the player hitting the big shots, making nice passes and putting Houston away. Maxwell was a better interview, more colorful on and off the court and I think that is why he was chosen FMVP. Bird shunned and avoided the press, he hated reporters at that time and they shunned him in return.

Thanks, I had no clue which Finals people were referring to as a FMVP steal.

Give me bird when you need a bucket down the stretch. Guy's confidence in the final seconds were unlike anyone I've ever seen.

There is one category that Lebron has more than Bird...

    number of missing playoffs.

And for 2015 Lebron shot 39%
Kyrie shot 45% so Lebron choked. It happens... move on.
