The longevity argument is so overrated. Larry Bird has done as much, if not more, for basketball and his team, and accomplished proportionally more than lebron has in his limited 12 year career.

nah, if i did my post would probably mention something along the lines of superior stats nearly across the board as well as career totals, more mvps, more all nba and all defense selections etc. Great point you made though.

He's a retard, so I guess that's what he believes.

As for the topic, it's LeBron and not particularly close.

    Significantly better scorer

    Better playmaker

    Significantly better defender

Except for rebounding, everything is in LeBron's favor. More MVP's, more FMVP's, more All-NBA, more All-Def, etc.. LeBron >>.

Bird was deadly from 18 feet out, a lot moreso than LeBron has ever been. Wouldn't that draw the defense toward Bird more, and away from the other player in this situ? Then Bird can pass the ball to the other player, with his slightly superior passing ability.

Yeah, that would make sense, if Bird was a better passer though. He wasn't.

Oh wow, a stats argument. From a LeBron fan, how original.

i don't think he's a superior passer, and Lebron has range at like 35 feet dude. Bird is the better shooter overall without a doubt but he's not going to leverage the defense like Lebron can.

No, he was, though. You see, Bird could touch-pass the ball all the time. That means he read the defense when he was off-ball and he barely held the ball in his hands for any duration before passing it to a teammate. This beats a defense most of the time, and it is a large part of the reason why the Celtics toyed with a lot of teams in the league. This is different than LeBron, who has more trouble with touch-passes, though he can kick it out to the perimeter on a drive, but needs an illegal three steps in order to do so.

Bird could split two defenders with bounce passes. LeBron has more trouble with that.

Bird could pass it to a teammate with his back to the teammate. LeBron has more trouble with that.

By the way, they're much more generous with awarding assists than they used to be.

Wow, this is a landslide. Bird isn't even top 5 all time (for us non-kkk supporters at least) and yet he's winning this by such a huge margin

Won't be long before we start asking who the 2nd greatest SF is between Erving, Durant, and LeBron
