Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to completely discredit him leading the league in nsteals, but a lot of people think getting a lot of steals = great defense. That's when you can look no further than Magic leading the league in steals once or twice to confirm it's not about great defense.

Well that tells you those who actually are watching the games and those who are looking strictly at the statsheets( like cuckwank98). Iverson, as stated above, was by no means a great individual defender but his speed and quickness generated alot of steals in the passing lane, meaning the offensive team had to be on their p's and q's and not be sloppy with their passing, especially when he was in the vicinity. MJ was more of a ball-hawk who was also adept at reading plays and picking off passes.

Jae Crowder is one player you said the whole team called out LeBron for hunting assists.

Don't bore me with your bullshit. Wake me up when you have something compelling enough to warrant my time and attention( which to this point has never been the case, I merely humor you).

And to think he easily would’ve been scoring champion in 1994, 1995, and 1999 as well if he didn’t retire, or the team hadn’t been broken up a year prematurely. He would easily be the all-time scoring leader if he wasn’t retired those three seasons.

Other than that one instance, when MJ was a rookie, no one he competed against ever averaged more points than him. And he played against:

Hakeem
KAJ

Bird
Magic
Wilkins
DRob
Ewing
Dantley
English
Drexler
Malone
Barkley

These dudes couldn't beat MJ out once. He beat the entire freaken field.
Yeah he was totally in his prime when MJ was playing.

Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
Gary Payton
Kawhi Leonard
Draymond Green
Chris Paul
John Stockton
Nate McMillan
Mookie Blaylock
Alvin Robertson

All led the league in steals.

MJ's 10 scoring titles for some reason are not lauded enough, and surprisingly one of the least mentioned of his accomplishments.

Think about it, MJ is one of the best perimeter defenders of all time and a DPOY. I watched MJ's career, he played consistent D game in game out. Then he went out and got you 30+ on high efficiency.

In the years they led.... all their steals were against the player they were guarding?

No, so? Do you think defense is just a 1 on 1 thing?

I'll tell you this though, when Jordan, Leonard, Green and Payton won DPOY...they led the league in steals.

Jordan did those two things, averaged 35 points, won the scoring title and the MVP all in the same year.

Harden/Westbrook would’ve outscored MJ in the 90’s

Clyde Drexler

Adrian Dantley
Mark Aguirre

There were guys who shot the lights out like Chris Mullin and Allan Houston.
