Why did the Spurs only win 1 championship since 2007?

You're just nitpicking at this point man. Amazing organization. 50 Wins every years. Tons of WCF's. 5/6 Finals Success rate. Come on man. They only won once since 07' because the competition was awesome, not because they lacked anything. Except maybe that memphis blunder.

No matter who the think the GOAT franchise is...they have gone well over 10 years without a ring. The Lakers didnt win from Mikan to 72...didnt win from 88 to 2000...and might not win again til 2026. The Celtics had a 22 year run without a ring. The Bulls didnt win till 91 and they started in the 60s. The Pistons lost for 35 years before winning. The 76ers won in 67 and 83...and never again. The Knicks have 2 in 70 years.

All that considered im not sure what the problem is here. The greatest franchise in any major american sport...would still have cold streaks. And the Spurs didnt go cold like the Celtics who were awful for years...or the Lakers who have been for years...or the Bulls and Pistons....and warriors...and Rockets...who all went bad and stayed bad for years.

In 48 years the Spurs have gone under 30 wins just 3 times. And one was as the Dallas Chaparrals in the ABA...and one was when they lost Drob and tanked for Duncan.

So I dont know who you could even be comparing them to in order to throw that "Supposedly" in there and attach it to "only" winning 2 rings in a decade.

The winningest franchise went over 20 years without a ring. The Spurs cant "only" make 3 finals and win 2 rings in a ten year period...one of them lost by a single shot?

Because winning a championship is really hard? Most organizations would love to have 2 championships in 10 years. The Spurs have also played in a historically competetive conference. The fact remains that year in and year out they are in the mix to win a championship. They haven't had a bad season in nearly 20 years. That in and of itself is remarkable.

The only time great organisations go into a cold streak is when they are completely rebuilding.



The Spurs have contended with 50+ win seasons every year in the last 9 years, and only won 1 ring

Not surprising at all to me.

These Spurs teams were your average role players who were fortunate enough to have a coach like Pop to prop them up.

Two great examples are Duncan and Kawhi who would be role players in any other system.

They also only won rings when they had lucky breaks in the playoffs.

Also, there was no "Pop system" in Duncan's early years. Duncan was the system.
