How does Amare being suspended 1 game cost the Suns over 2 games? And what does over 2 games even mean? Does that mean 3 games?

Riiiiight... Keep telling yourself that.
98: Suns lose to Spurs
03: Suns lose to Spurs
05: Suns lose to Spurs
07: Suns lose to Spurs
The Bottom line is the Suns were an offensive team that were not contenders for the title. All of Amares and Marions points couldn't save the Suns from being a crappy defensive team. That's just the way it is. But hey, at least they were entertaining. Very fast paced and a casual fan's delight.

The only thing that happened was that Phoenix team overplayed in Game 5, at home, and it still was not enough without Amare. And in Game 6, on the road, they were not only gassed but they were on the road to a great team and they lost. It's not a fresh theory either. It was discussed before the games were even played, the possibility of that happening.
And that's not to say that the Suns should have gone thru the motions in Game 5.
That's a scenario where having Popovich would certainly help Phoenix. That's not to say that he doesn't help, in general, but he's terrific with taking in the longterm view.

Listen, I do agree with you on the Suns in 98 and 03 having relevance in 2007.
I think talking Spurs with you is not the best idea.
