50/20 games since 1984
Davis had 59/20.
According to Bball-ref, only Shaq and Chris Webber have in the last 20 years - since 1984 - had 50 points and 20 rebounds in a regular season game.
Shaq was 28 (prime), Webber was 27 (prime), Anthony Davis was 22!
If we lessen the criteria somewhat and say 40 points and 20 rebounds we also get the following players:
Barkley, Ralph Samson, Dwight Howard, Hakeem, McDyess, Mike Gminski, Ewing, Moses Malone, Larry Bird, Joe Carrol.
I think it is safe to say AD is in very good company.
As for age for 40/20 games ONLY Shaq and AD have had 40/20 games at 22 years old and they both have two.
Charles Barkley has 2 games of 40/20 below 25 years of age, EVERYONE else (except Sampson - 24) - only did this above 25 years of age.
AD is essentially a college senior. If this guy stays injury free I think we are looking at a bottom of top 15 and a ceiling of top 5 all time.

Shaq had a 46/21 with 5 blocks game at age 20
Very surprised to see Bird on the 40/20 list (42/20/5/3/2).

If we modify the criteria to 55/15, then since 83/84:

Any way you twist the requirements it is some very fine company AD is in.

Of course. I didn't realize Jordan had 18 rebounds and 6 assists to go with his 69 point game. Or that Purvis Short would be in that company.

Good post. Weird how it consistently shows that the other guys were in their physical prime to align the scoring skill with the endurance and tenacity. AD is unique and I can't wait to see he and KAT have all around game wars. I originally had Embiid in there too but he got to get playing. Oak44 and Zinger could end up the best scorers of the bunch. Big men are officially back.

Still doesn't change the fact that AD has been an afterthought this season until his 59/20

Because he plays with selfish chuckers.
All plays for Pelicans should begin with dropping the ball inside first.

Why since 83-84? Just so Wilt can't make their accomplishments look small. It's not fair..ok.

No, because bballref only has the data of TRB since the 1983 season.

No rebound data for single games further back.
No doubt Wilt has a ton of 50/20 games. Moses probably has more too and Kareem too.

Doesn't matter what stats he puts up. We all know ISH is devoted to championships. Unless at least 2 rings then won't scratch top 20.

Davis with another 20 rebound game, but how did he have a 50 point reduction in scoring output?
