the Jazz will begin the season without arguably their two best players
Rudy must have really impressed in the pre-season. Now it's arguable!

Diaw's passing and ability to create in the low post has made Gobert a better player
Rudy looked great in the first game next to Favors. Let's not get carried away!

Shelvin Mack entered training camp, in some regards, as a forgotten man.
In some ways? In every way I'd say. For anybody to have watched the team last season and write him off is a joke really. Hard to believe that clueless people get paid to write shit.

the 26-year-old has averaged 8.7 points and 3.2 assists coming off the bench in six preseason games, and seems to hold the edge over Raul Neto for the Jazz's third point guard spot.
I'd call him the 2nd best player on the team right now no question about it.

With Mack expected to see fewer minutes this season, Jazz coach Quin Snyder is demanding a greater commitment from the guard's defense.

At the end of last year, we needed different things from him," Snyder said. "Part of it is him adjusting to what's the fit and where can he add the most value. That's scoring opportunistically but really defending the ball."
They had the number 1 D with him starting.

While Burks has shown the propensity to be a good individual defender, his ability to get on the court could be tied to his ability to provide excellent team defense.

He needs to show the ability and willingness to take and hit threes.
which is why he will get traded

the Jazz's starting lineup will be George Hill, Rodney Hood, Joe Johnson, Boris Diaw, and Rudy Gobert. Head coach Quin Snyder's not too worried about his team's starters in the first game. "They're going to change throughout the year anyway," Snyder said.
looks like Hood is starting. Interesting that he said it will change throughout the year

Those players are all best suited for the role of second-side operators -- players that can successfully navigate a defense after some previous action has caused their opponent to be pulled out of position.
and that is what we saw with Mack

No surprise Lillard is doing all the damage so far. Thought we might of stuck Exum on him by now for a bit to see if he can slow him down.

Hill playing very well in his debut though and JJ is shooting well.

    Can't stop Lillard.

Going 1-7 late in the 4th didn't help either.

It is expected that Hill, Hood and Gobert will be mainstays at their positions as long as they remain healthy.
Hood has to show he can bring it consistently at the offensive end and play D. Was definitely impressed by Hill. When they were down you could see he was doing everything in his power to keep them in it. The leader Hayward and Favors haven't been despite the hype.

The Frenchman struggled, going 1-of-8 (0-for-3 from 3-point range) with no assists, three rebounds and five fouls in 32 minutes of play.
Not going to cut it and with other options there's really no excuse for him playing 32 minutes. Snyder is a genius?

Exum was pretty solid while he was on the floor,
Thought he mostly sucked. Neto should be playing ahead of him until he's ready.

The third-year guard from Australia only played eight minutes, while fellow point guard Shelvin Mack getting 15 minutes. Joe Ingles got 14.
Mack should be getting big minutes. One of their top players.

Snyder will surely play the guy who produces the best.
Believe it when I see it

It will be up to him to make the right decisions and ultimately up to the players to deliver.
that's the question. He hasn't shown he can do that yet

CBS Sports ranked the top 100 players in the NBA and six players from the Jazz made the list.

George Hill was the first to make the list at No. 78, followed by Trey Lyles who came in at No. 73.
    Lyles ahead of Hill?

there is every reason to believe he's going to continue ascending right alongside this promising Utah core."
unless you've actually been watching the games

Head coach Quin Snyder noted the difference too. "Our bench has to step up.
Maybe the coach needs to step up?

That he played so much in the fourth quarter (11:33) counts as a mistake, in my book. He played well enough in the preseason that I understand what Snyder was going for, but it just didn't work.
come on! Quin can do no wrong!

Success for Dante is playing. If he plays over 75 games, he is right on track. Hopefully he gets to close some of those games. Simple as that.
If he's playing and sucking the Jazz will lose games as they did last year with Lyles and last night
