Yes, but you need to factor in a few years of TV use into the question. Yes, you could have saved more money, but you got several Super Bowls of use out of the TV.

Panels are getting cheaper and demand is probably way down. Most folks who wanted a Big TV got a big TV. Folks are probably fine with waiting for a new TV unless your TV is broken.

Also Super Bowl weekend is the best time to buy a TV. They are clearing out old models because they new models are just weeks away.

Also every brand has TVs at several pricepoints, so you can say X is better than Y, just because X is a Samsung. It depends which Samsung.

I'm still upset no more plasmas are being made.

8K is where it's at honestly. The difference between 1080p and 4K is meh, but 4K to 8K is wow.

Ah the times of 2006-2008 and the rush to get a HDTV to play your PS3/360 on.
Seeing questions on messageboards such as "720p or 1080i ?" and "How far do I sit from the screen ?"
    Good times.

    I bought a 47" i bought a few years ago (around 2.5 years) for around $800.

It's gotten to the point where I feel it is a bit small and I wouldn't mind getting a 60-70" but I don't feel like spending the money only to upgrade to something bigger down the road.

I think I'm going to try a quality project next time around. a 100 inch screen sounds bad ass.

i can definitely see those 65" getting down to the $300-400~ in 1080p soon.

i swear in 10 years its going to be normal to have TV's plastered everywhere because they're so cheap and probably running off of some universal wifi. like Jetsons kind of reality.

    Where it's at??

You do realize there's like 4 cameras in this world that shoot 8k grade video? 3 of which are owned by a Japanese broadcasting company who have spent a few billion dollars investing in their R&D and productions.

Most TV networks have barely adopted full HD programming (a lot doing just 720p at most), let alone even think of going 4k. 8K isn't for another few decades.
