Default Most impressive kinds of blocked shots?

The other week I was thinking multiple point swings starting from blocking an opponents shot are the most dominant types of full court plays but what are the most demoralizing ways of blocking a player? Here are some that come to mind:

*Catching a shot (rebound and block all in one).

*Maintaining possession after the block (deflecting it to yourself, or to a teammate for the rebound).

    *Blocking dunk attempts.

*Little guys blocking bigs (And face up, as opposed to weakside in this scenario would be a lot more impressive).

*Blocking shots that are by nature, difficult to block (IE, high release hook shots and fade away jumpers).

    *Chase down blocks.

*Big men stepping out to block on the perimeter maybe?

What are some others you guys can think of?

Blocking a dunk attempt. It's the biggest momentum changer. It can zap the confidence out of the opposing team.

Trying to tip it to teammates or down the court. Players these days think smacking it out of bounds means it is a super impressive block is a wasted opportunity and forgotten art form

I always thought that blocking elite shooters (like Ray Allen, Steph Curry, Carmelo Anthony) one on one was more impressive blocking than anything else. That just seems way hard, and blocking those guys in general (on their jumpshots) is tough enough.

Yeah these types of blocks, the shooter just gets owned. It's still most effective though when you can get the ball after a block. If the team ends up scoring anyway, the block was somewhat worthless

I always liked these kind of running at the defender blocks, especially when it's a guard doing the blocking.

The only other demoralizing type of block I can think of is to send the ball into the stands

^^^^ Here's MJ helping on Hakeem and blocking his shots.

Helping on big men was mj's THING - here's an entire video of MJ disrupting big men on the post - starting at the 6:17 mark, MJ destroys Shaq for 2 straight minutes including 5-6 blocks..

At the 9:28 mark, MJ wins a jumpball vs. David Robinson and then plays volleyball with Duncan's shot attempt.. It's remarkable how much 35-year old MJ dominated Robinson and Duncan during his only 2 meetings with them in 1998 (the games are on youtube).

MJ put far more effort into defense than Kobe, Harden, Lebron, Durant, you name it.. MJ's superior effort coupled with his superior quickness gives him a big edge defensively over these players.

General rim protecting is the most effective. You establish a presence and now you have every single player on the other team thinking twice around your vicinity. I don't think I've ever seen someone create the same effect on the perimeter. Not sure that would be possible unless you had a 25 foot wingspan.

Being a shot blocker myself, and a huge fan of shot blockers, I believe the most impressive block is to block a dunk.
This is because the largest combination of power, quickness, strength, high leaping and timing is required.
Zo was the best ever at this IMO.

Catching a shot, a la JaVale is the most impressive blocked shot. Period.

when a big guy steps into the middle of the floor and tries to deflect a midrange shot while it's still on the way up... 90% of the time it's goaltending but every so often a really long athletic guy like dwight or javale mcgee who's dumb enough to try gets a good piece and its ruled legal.

has anybody seen a defender just grab the ball as the guy goes up for his jumper?
