They got married in Kenya because that is where her mother lives and also has a lot of family. They are getting married twice... once in Kenya for her family and once in Germany for his.

That's a picture of Nairobi. The crime rate is high, you'd be warned by the state department if you went to visit. But the same could be said of Mexico and it can still be a great place to go on vacation.
