For me it was Dave and Adrian from Maiden, especially Dave. Got my first Fender Strat, a black with white pickguard with maple fretboard specifically because that was his main axe. I even took out the single coil bridge pickup and put a humbucker in it

Jimmi is another perfect example of pure musicality and feeling in guitar soloing. He was one of those players where it was like the guitar was no longer just a guitar, it was this living breathing thing that was speaking to you! Love Jimmy. One of my first loves on guitar along with Brian May.

I fell in love with him back in the early 90's when he was doing his thing w/ Praxis; playing w/ Bootsy and them...doing stuff like this stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EHw_lIc6EY

He only got better as the years went on. Stuff he did solo, stuff he did w/ Claypool and others...none if is it bad.

I like a lot of his slower emotional stuff too...like the entire album Colma is mostly emotional stuff, with far less shredding. Then there are the "Pikes" albums.

Always liked this one off Colma https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Nj1D2y-PY8

This was was great too, also off Colma: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X-vtyGZtK0

Another from Colma, in honor of Father's Day: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lr4Ixrkz5Vc

And this one off of Electric Tears: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2WsPN-rr9o

Then you get stuff like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgPhsXHMSb8

    or this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adV8-_hgL4g

    Talk about versatility...

Less known as super talented guitarists: Mike Oldfield or good call by Mr. Jabbar - George Harrison.

Are you kidding me? Slash was no where near top tier level.

Listen to Herman Li and come talk to me.
