About the Blazers: Portland opens its exhibition season Monday night against the Sacramento Kings. ... It's the first of seven preseason games, three of which will be played at the Moda Center. The Blazers also host the Golden State Warriors (Thursday) and Utah Jazz (Oct. 18). ... The Blazers played their annual Fan Fest instra-squad scrimmage Sunday night and the "White" Team, led by McCollum and Leonard, won 31-30 in a game that featured a running 24-minute clock. ... McCollum finished with a game-high 12 points on 6-for-15 shooting. But Lillard, who recorded nine points, three assists and two rebounds, was named MVP. It's the second time he's won the honor. ... It was a relatively sloppy and rugged scrimmage for the Blazers, who struggled from long-range all game, missing all 21 of their three-point attempts. ... Aminu skipped the scrimmage because his wife Helina, who is pregnant with their first daughter, went into labor. His status for tonight's game is unknown. If Aminu does not play, Moe Harkless likely would start in his place. ... Backup big man Chris Kaman did not play because of what coach Terry Stotts called a "variety" of ailments. His status for tonight is also unknown.


About the Kings: After a turbulent offseason that saw coach George Karl and star center DeMarcus Cousins butt heads, the Kings look to turn the page during their exhibition opener. ... Karl has urged his Kings to play at a faster pace during training camp, routinely featuring an 18-second shot clock during scrimmages and workouts. With point guards Rondo and Darren Collison, and a host of athletic players, he hopes to play at a breakneck pace. ... Cauley-Stein, the No. 6 pick of the 2015 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, showed up to training camp out of shape, but reportedly has regained his form in time for tonight's exhibition opener.

Injuries: For Portland, guard Gerald Henderson (left hip) and Cliff Alexander (left knee bone bruise) are out. The Kings are not reporting any injuries.
