Kobe prevented them from having an undefeated run.
Sure, because Kobe had nothing to do with them being undefeated to begin with.

Idiot.

Did I say he didn't? Idiot.
Of course they both had amazing runs against the West.

But unlike Shaq who dropped 45 / 20 / 5 on 60% in their first Finals game Kobe choked epically and ruined their undefeated streak...

Even if he had just had a pretty bad game they would have won easily thanks to Shaq's dominance but he had such an incredibly bad game that he allowed the Sixers to force OT and eventually steal a win.

That game was unfortunetly a small but clear black mark on an otherwise almost flawless run for him.

Shaq ckoked against the Spurs and Kobe carried them to a win...

Too bad Shaq could not return the favor.

But right. Back to the weak hitjob. It's all Kobe's fault they did not go undefeated. Shame on him.

Not really.
28 / 7 / 6 on 52%TS isn't exactly 44 / 20 / 5 on 58%TS.
And 19 / 14 / 5 on 40%TS isn't 15 / 3 / 5 on 33%TS.

If Shaq had been "equally as bad" they would have lost that game but he wasn't and they won.

Plus you know Shaq was the main focus of the opposing defenses and in that particular game was being guarded by Duncan & Robinson.
Kobe in that Finals game was not the main focus and he wasn't being guarded by such elite defenders.
Just another reason why that comparison isn't very good.

It's all Kobe's fault they did not go undefeated. Shame on him.
Yes, it is.
Well Iverson also gets some credit (he was great) but its mostly on Kobe.

He was absolutely atrocious in the one game they lost and wasted an epic performance from Shaq who kept them in it despite his utter incompetence.

Putting yourself in a smaller and smaller box.

38% shooting for a bigman is not much better than 31% for a guard.

Kobe was the reason they sweept the Spurs.

Any argument about a perfect postseason if only Kobe played better is idiotic.

What box? Just posting facts.

Kobe's performance in that Spurs game wasn't even remotely close to Shaq's in that Finals game and Shaq's "bad game" wasn't nearly as bad compared with Bryant's.

Plus Shaq faced vastly superior defenders and recieved more defensive attention.

38% shooting for a bigman is not much better than 31% for a guard.
Efficiency is efficiency.
40%TS while quite horrid is far better then 33%TS and 4 TOV > 6 TOV.

Kobe was the reason they sweept the Spurs.
Nah.
Shaq's box score stats might have been slightly lower in that series but he anchored the Laker defense and completely shut down Duncan in the last 2 games.
He also was the main focus of their defense and really opened up things for Kobe who destroyed their non-existent perimiter defense.

Kobe at best was comparably important but calling him the "main reason" is just stupid.

Shaq's impact went well beyond his numbers and he was the engine of that team.
Opposing teams focused mainly on stopping him and he recieved far more defensive attention then Bryant who was still in his shadow and having his first real year as a consistent star level player.
O'neal also anchored the Laker defense.

His overall impact was a good 2-3 levels above Kobe even in their Western run.
No version of Kobe is on-par with absolute Peak Shaq.

Kobe was still incredible though and performed at an MVP level in that run.
I never said his little black mark ruined the impressivity of his run it just took a tiny bit of luster off it.

It was the "main reason" they went undefeated.

This is not difficult to understand.

And that was what your stupid joke was about to begin with.

Don't change the subject.

Oh that 's great. The two home games.

How did his imperfect sidekick do in the first two road games?

Also, how did Shaq do against Duncan in game 2?

Duncan had 40-15.

Kobe is the one who choked in the game they lost
I don't see how you don't blame him for it.

Anyway its not a big deal.
He still had a truly amazing run and 15-1 isn't exactly unimpressive.
We shouldn't be arguing over this.
