Yao returns to the NBA! As one of the 4 Slam Dunk judges. Yao will join three former Rocket greats, Mutombo, Drexler and Hakeem.
Mutombo to judge the contest? *blocks all the dunks* Not in my house, HAHAHAHAHAAA

Imagine if they had this in 1988. Jordan and Wilkins would be on the same team.
Agreed, but at least there'll still be two opportunities for six different players to put on a show. Having Green and White in the same bracket could up the ante, forcing both of them to bring their double A game just to get into the finals. Or, one of them could end up being a disappointment (ex: Shannon Brown) while a westerner may bring the heat.

Either way, I agree. The simple way would be to just have one large pool like normal. The last time they had brackets was in '02 when Jason Richardson took out Desmond Mason because Richardson drew a Wilkins windmill on The Wheel and Mason got stuck with a Dr. J. cuff dunk.

Deke always has the best reactions during past dunk contests. So, with Yao and him it will be awesome!!

Gerald Green says he has a dunk that'll be the best ever if he can pull it off

What the f*ck is the point of a scale of 6-10?

"Ugh I hate that dunk, that gets a 6." Is it really that hard to make it 1-10?

Meh, not like they ever actually used the whole voting scale anyway. Not like there were guys getting 5s and stuff for average dunks. It's always 9s and 10s with the occasional 8.

I know, but just make it a 1-5 scale then; 6-10 just seems so arbitrary.

I think the 6-10 scale is the NBA's way of making a 1-5 scale without losing the lore that comes with "perfect 50". Having a player execute an outstanding dunk and earn a "perfect 25" just doesn't have the same ring.

Man, on the real. We need LeBron to do at least 1 dunk contest.

None of this, oh, im too pretty to be in it shit.

All the greats have. WE need to start a mass twitter attack on him. We need him in the dunk contest next year. Do the AS Game in South Beach if they want. Even let Dwade in if they want.

let James white in it. Russel Westbrook, and anyone else who can throw down some nasty jams.

    TEAM ROUND
    • Each competitor will complete two dunks which will be scored on a scale of 6 to 10 by a panel of 5 judges.
    • Each dunk has a maximum score of 50 and a minimum score of 30.
    • FIRST DUNK - All three Eastern Conference players will complete their first dunk, followed by the three West players.
    • SECOND DUNK - All three Eastern Conference players will complete their second dunk, followed by the three West players. The second dunk order WITHIN each conference will be determined by first dunk scores (lowest to highest).
    • The three Eastern Conference players will have their scores (all six dunks) added to get a TOTAL score.
    • The three Western Conference players will have their scores (all six dunks) added to get a TOTAL score.
    • 50 POINTS will be awarded to the conference that has the highest TOTAL score after the Team Round.
    • Each time a player scores a perfect 50 for a dunk during the Team Round, his conference will have 10 BONUS POINTS added to its overall All-Star Saturday Night score.
    • The East player with the highest combined score for his two dunks advances to the Championship Round.
    • The West player with the highest combined score for his two dunks advances to the Championship Round.
    CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
    • The highest scoring East competitor and the highest scoring West competitor from the Team Round will compete head-to-head to determine the competition champion.
    • The competitor with the lower combined score for his two Team Round dunks will go first.
    • The players will alternate, each completing two dunks in the Championship Round.
    • At the beginning of the Championship Round, fan voting polls will open with four voting options:
    1) SMS Text Message* - Text the player's last name to 38657(DUNKS)
    2) Twitter** - Tweet #SpriteSlam with the player's last name
    3) Vote via the NBA All-Star App
    4) Log on to NBA.com from any computer or mobile device
    • The player who has the highest percentage of combined votes from all platforms will be crowned champion.
    • 55 POINTS will be awarded to the conference of the competition champion.
