Player fans
Why do you like the player over the team?
I don't understand how all of you hop teams when said player jumps ship, do you feel sadness or anything?
Or just stoked to be aboard something new?
If Kawhi left I'd be hoping the Spurs lay the smack down on him from then on, team first always tbh

Re: Player fans
We get it, you're "above it all"
It's not either or
What people post on here doesn't actually reflect reality in relation to their basketball fandom
The issue is no one cares about The Sacramento Kings
What we should be talking about is bandwagon fans, like yourself
See, you are no different than the rest... We get it. You like the Spurs because you front how much of a basketball purist you think you are
"Team over individual! Spurs ball!"
Don't worry, we got plenty of those types of bandwagon Spurs fans (EG - TLP)
But then again, you MIGHT actually have a legitimate tie to the Spurs... Maybe you grew up in San Antonio.. Lived in Texas.. Or you are like me and your family comes from the area (North Cal, Which is why I am a Sacramento fan)
But I doubt this scenario
But either or, it doesn't matter
That's the thing, worrying about these minute details of fan legitimacy/player fans vs team fans/bandwagon fans vs loyal fans... It all doesn't matter. A fan is a fan
So really, this thread is about you trying to place yourself "above it all" under the guise of the Almighty Super Team first Spurs classic fan character... Woopie! Do you want a medal? Woopie!
Enjoy your stay at basketball pseudo intellectual superiority
This thread is meaningless and this post I wrote in about 2 minutes and 13 seconds proves such
Good day

You've been here long enough to know how things work
Either you are this stupid that you need to ask this question, or you feel the need to ask a question that which you already know the answers to for attentions sake
It's obvious it is the latter

I've been here long enough to know that every player fan I see, 100% of them, seem to jump teams.
This stuff doesn't happen in the sports I follow in Australia, Sherbert, and is something I wouldn't even consider.
Not trying to sound like a sick c*nt lol

Re: Player fans
Well I guess you've already answered your question
Why do player fans jump teams? Well because they are fans of the player, not the team
I guess those are individual aspects, but the average player fan has no real emotional attachment to said team that player was on.. They simply follow the player
That being said, a player fan can be a team fan of another team.. It's just definitions and semantics in the end
I'm a Sacramento fan, but I enjoy following the greatness of LeBron James
I'm sure there are player fans on here who root for actual other teams that they have some connection to
But no one posts about losers, and much less about teams compared to individuals
And you can't force people to talk about your team
Trust me, I've tried.. No matter how many Kings threads I make, no one gives a shit about them, because they suck
So in the end, it's one giant murky tornado of fans and what not

Anecdotal, but all player fans/bandwagers I know IRL are huge fakkits and have no honor.

I moved out of the States so I no longer feel any connection to any city.

Re: Player fans
Gee, maybe some people don't live in the states?
Or maybe they live in a state where there's no NBA teams? Maybe they just don't feel emotionally attached to a city? Maybe it's easier to relate to specific players than a city?
People follow sports for all kinds of different reasons, there's no "wrong" way to be a fan.
It's easy to associate yourself with a successful team like the Spurs and go around saying "oh look at me I'm a team fan, I'm so loyal". I'm more impressed with fans of teams that hasn't been so successful, yet stuck around with them.
