Default Most consistent scorers in the NBA

We all know LeBron is one of the most consistent scorers of all time, but just how consistent is he in comparison to the all time greats? I chose to look at how many consecutive years a player scored 26.5 ppg, or more. Some might find this list to be shocking.

Any player can go on a hot streak for a season or two, but how many can consistently remain at the top of the pack, year after year?

The most consecutive seasons in which a player has scored at least 26.5 ppg:

    *notes streak is active

    Michael GOAT Jordan: 11
    LeBron James: 9*
    Wilt Chamberlain: 9
    Oscar Robertson: 8

    Kevin Durant: 4*
    Shaquille O' Neal: 4
    Elgin Baylor: 4
    Bob Pettit: 4
    George Mikan: 3
    Hakeem Olajuwon: 3
    Dominique Wilkins: 3
    Elvin Hayes: 3
    Alex English: 3
Patrick Ewing: 2 (Twice in his career total, consecutively)
Moses Malone: 2 (Twice in his career total, consecutively)
    Carmello Anthony: 2
    Dwyane Wade: 2
    Tracy McGrady: 2

Currently, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Kevin Love are the only players, at least in my mind, who can have back-to-back seasons scoring 26.5+ PPG.

I do see LeBron and Durant both surpassing Jordan for the streak, however. If they both stay healthy.

I will be honest, I was shocked to see some of the caliber players with literally ZERO seasons. I was also shocked to see some of the players known as the prolific scorers in the NBA (Melo, Iverson, Dirk, Mc Grady etc.) with relatively low numbers to both Durant and LBJ.

*Iverson tallied 5 years straight, but Durant is at 4 already and will very likely get his 5th when this year ends.

    Their consistency is uncanny.

It's almost a foregone conclusion that LeBron equals or tops that streak.

Even someone like Shaq with only 4, or someone like Wade/Melo with only 2. It made me realize how hard it is to be both extremely consistent and effective.

Someone like Dirk who only did it once in his whole career. Or someone like Drexler, Payton, KG, who never even did it once. I found it interesting.

Also: Oscar having tied Wilt with 8! I thought for sure Wilt was going to have the most.

Well, LeBron and Durant both will never score under 26.5 PPG as long as they are the main players of their teams.

If LeBron is at 9 seasons, if he reaches 12, he will be, 31 at the end of that season. So, I strongly believe he will reach 12.

Durant will score over 26.5 PPG until he slows down at age 35-36, just an opinion.

If Kevin Love switches teams, which many predict he will, I can see him scoring between 20-25 PPG for the first couple of seasons with a new team, not like those are bad scoring numbers.

Their streaks are indicative of this, however; it's an impressive feat. At least to me. To see someone like Dirk (no offense, the guy is a stud) who is a great scorer, yet only had one season.

I'm not sure if LBJ will reach 12 straight, that would be very tough.

Not bad numbers at all (20-25), but Love hasn't reached 26.5 even once, yet.

I think LBJ will reach 12, my main source of this is because he is shooting over 55% for the past two seasons.

Also repped, great thread OP, good discussion.

Shame MJ was gone in '94, and management gave him limited minutes in '86. Otherwise his steak would've been even more ridiculous.

Thank you sir. It also shows how crazy MJ was to continue to dominate, at the highest level, every. single. year. lol

It's already ridiculous enough! But I get your point.

MJ never scored less than 29 ppg in the playoffs...in 13 seasons.

I find it interesting that something Jordan, LeBron, and Kobe did many consecutive years; 11, 9, and 6 respectively, yet these players never did it once in their career:

    Kevin Garnett: 0
    Magic Johnson: 0
    Reggie Miller: 0
    Bob Cousy: 0
    Walt Frazier: 0
    Clyde Drexler: 0
    Bill Russell: 0
    Tim Hardaway: 0
    Ray Allen: 0
    Gary Payton: 0
    Scottie Pippen: 0

It really separates the all-time best consistent scorers in the NBA.
