On topic, what the Bulls gave to Mike in terms of salary was paid back a hundred-fold in terms of what he brought to them, not only in team success, but also financial success.

There are tons of heart surgeons in the world, but there are only a few superstar athletes. It's called supply and demand. You can argue that certain players are overpaid (Rashard Lewis anyone?) but the highest tier of players is underpaid if anything.
You're absolutely right. Anyone can be a insignificant heart surgeon, a basketball player on the other hand is the rarest of breeds. Entertainment >>>> saving lives. Your logic is flawless.

Actually you can. When you consider that the new CBA was responsible for lowering the max amount of money a player can get. I think Glenn Robinson was the first player to get a 100 mil contract, and he came out in 94 or so. Anyone remember the length of years on that deal?

Before that I think Larry Johnson had the biggest contract at 84 mil.

Shortly after the Robinson signing, the Heat tried to give out TWO 100 mil contracts, to both Mourning, and Juwan Howard, but Howard's contract was rescinded by the league for being in violation of the salary cap at the time.

Jordan didn't make 100 mil in his whole career. What's that tell you?

    MJ's Salary = 33 Mill
The rest of the team's combined salary = 30.36 Mill

If this was todays making money first, winning a title second NBA, I bet the majority of the team would've just sat out, starting with Pip.
