Because they're not real all stars. The east basically fielded a an allstar replacement team last week. None of them would make the team out west. Paul Millsap was just another PF when he was with Utah.

How are they similar at all? The Pacers were the #1 seed, but they were still looking at the Heat as the team to beat, and they lost. The East is more open this year. Last year pretty much everyone had Indy and Miami in the ECF except when Indy struggled to get by Atlanta and Washington. Plus Atlanta has a better offense.
