How good can Troy Daniels be?
6'4"
200lb
SG
Age: 23
Experience: 1 season (10 total games)
Regular Season Stats per36 (5 games):
20.2 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 2.4 apg, 3/6 2PT FG, 12/25 3PT FG
Playoff Stats per36 (5 games):
16.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, .5 apg, 1/2 2PT FG, 8/15 3PT FG
So how good can he be? Clearly too small to play SF, and his defense is practically non-existent as of last season, but say he improves his passing and defense from year one to year two, what is his ceiling?
Kyle Korver?
Per 36 Regular Season:
12.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.7 apg, 47% 3pt
Marco Belinelli?
Per 36 Regular Season:
16.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.2 apg, 43% 3pt
I know I am comparing apples to oranges given the limited sample size of Troy Daniels career, but is there any reason to think Daniels can't put up 12ppg on 45% shooting off the bench? Maybe I am being overly optimistic, but if you watched the games that he played in, the dude is clutch as fvck and a lights out shooter.

Re: How good can Troy Daniels be?
It all comes down to if he can improve his defense. Shooters in this league are a dime a dozen, guys that can shoot the 3 and play D, thats where the real value is at. Shane Battier made a very long successful career out of it.
So if he can improve his defense then he has a chance at having a long career, if he puts in the work I can see him as a 6th man of the year candidate in the future.

If he were given the green light on a bad team? Sure, he can do 20 ppg.
Off the bench on a playoff team? I'd say anywhere from 9 to 14 ppg.

Dude was signed from the RGV Vipers, where defense is a mythical term used by teams who can't score 150. He literally took 13 3pointers a game in the D-league. I dont really trust the ORtg and DRtg when it comes to advanced stats, and even if I did there wouldn't be a big enough sample size, but I think the last thing he's going to improve is defense cause he sure doesn't pass the eye test.
Ray Allen didn't play defense though. Just a thought?

Kid's gonna be a 20 ppg All-Star. All he needs is the minutes.

Ray Allen was 6'6 and a rock solid body with underrated athleticism and he could create his own shot and finish.
Troy Daniels can shoot the 3 ball very well, hit tough shots, and make the jumpers the defense gives him.
I get where you're coming from but he needs to bring a lot more to the table in order to make it in this league. The league is getting more and more stacked. Troy could of been starting on some teams 7-10 years ago, not gonna cut it now.

Ray Allen
Position: Shooting Guard ▪ Shoots: Right
Height: 6-5 ▪ Weight: 205 lbs.
So they're similar in body type. I will say though that Allen was a more rounded player (he averaged 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists for his career).
