Look at how many Championship caliber free agents Dirk's paycut brought him
Dirk watched as Mark Cuban blew up his championship roster the year after beating the hyped Big Three in The Finals and he took a paycut to supposedly lure Top Free Agents into signing with the Mavs so they could play with him, from DWill to Dwight Howard onward.
So looking at how things turned out for The Mavs, who are in the Playoff race this year, do you think him taking a paycut after one of the single greatest playoff runs ever has paid off?

Re: Look at how many Championship caliber free agents Dirk's paycut brought him
Well let's see.
2011 - championship
2012 - 1st round broom to the ass
2013 - missed the playoffs for the first time in 13 years
And this year, we like to talk about how exciting the West is going to be, and how low-key dangerous the Mavericks are. But in all likelihood, they're going to take another 1st round broom to the ass, once again by the Thunder. They might grind out one win though.
So no, Dirk was shafted, and would be totally justified in being pissed off.

Dirk will retire and go back to germany. $10k will take care of him and his family for the rest of their lives. He doesnt need that much to survive

You can't make people come to your team. You do your best and if they choose somewhere else then you do your best with what's left. I gotta be honest, Chandler was great but he's not been great since he left so I don't have a real problem with what Cuban did. It was a calculated risk and it didn't work. It made sense and they were trying to lure a big free agent but they couldn't. I aftually think this team is decent. They aren't going to win anything but they play hard and I like watching them play. Nowhere near a championship team but they could be worse. They will probably not be good again until after Dirk retires.

The pay cut was before the championship dumbass
I'd say taking a pay cut and winning a championship the very next season was a great thing...all while being the 2nd highest paid player in the league
You people here are idiots

This is why I think the expected paycut from Veteran Stars is overrated, not every Team gives complete control over their franchise from the coaching chair like The Spurs, so Duncan in comparison isn't taking that much of a risk by taking less.
And unless you've already had multiple backroom meetings with pending Free Agents planning to specifically flee their coop to your franchise , then personally taking a paycut for the sake of a Billion dollar Franchise is probably one of the dumbest things a Player could ever do.
Especially if you've been the cornerstone of a Team for multiple seasons, if not your entire career.

It was always to lure DWill, then Dwight. Dumb phuck.
LOL, if you seriously think the Mavs expected to Win that year with the roster they put on the floor then you're the biggest dumbass here.

Which paycut after the 2011 championship are you talking about? Sources?

You have a computer, don't be lazy.
Didn't suggest he took one after 2011, it's just an inclusion to highlight Cuban's micromanaging of Dirk's career.
