I know everyone probably thinks Ainge is crazy offering KG and Allen big money (KG more so) but seriously, these "old men" took the world champions to 7 games while missing a large chunk of their bench. So, why not keep them together for longer? Lets see what they can do when healthy.

does this play into the $17 million the Celtics have to offer FA's?

Can't see Ray turning that down. Would like to see him in Miami though.

Celtics will still purse the same SGs.

Celtics need as much depth as possible. Losing 4 people for the season with Ray and Pierce playing injured shows that.

Plus, you can never have too much shooting.

I always thought it wasn't about money for Ray Allen but more about the chance to start and not being benched by Avery Bradley?

But yeah, good deal for him. Don't know why Boston would pay an old guy 6m for 2 seasons though.

This should shut up all the misinformed people who were complaining about how Danny's been trying to get rid of Ray.

We have no money to offer free agents. We'll be using the MLE and Bi-annual. We never had that money to spend because we didn't renounce a lot of our free agents to open up the cap space.

Stated last year that he was totally fine with coming off the bench for Bradley. Don't know if he still will hold that stance when he is totally healthy, but if he's producing effectively he should be the starter anyway.

I think Celtics are still ~8M under the cap after KG and Allen. Of course Bass, Wilcox, and Green all are still unsigned.

I'd rather have Mayo tbh. I like the KG signing but the C's need someone for their future. Rondo, Mayo, Sullinger and Fab Melo is a promising start. But if they can't sign Mayo, just go with Bradley. Build his trade value and gets some draft picks. They can still contend without Ray.
