It's generally classified as a MOBA for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. In a nutshell, it's 5v5, and you level up your character and try to kill the enemy base.

I'd argue it's not really for casual gamers fyi. The skill curve is stupid high.

And the payouts for Dota and LoL (League of Legends: a watered-down Dota) dominated the competitive gaming scene in 2013.
