It was over a year ago now, so unfortunately I can't say I am able to link you to the specific resources... but I went through several different accounts, and the motivations for that war seemed pretty clear.

What traditions were under threat besides slavery? What purpose did the southern states have for seeking independence, aside from the preservation of their massive slave-labor economies? Money is always at the root of these things... and there was an absolutely gargantuan amount of difference in the money to be made with or without slave labor.

Republicans had a lot to do with oppression. Them shifting the entire blame for it to democrats is what's known as a half truths. The other half implicates them as being part of it too, which is historically proven

Where'd the bolded come from?

At no point did I take sides or attempt to make any group look better than the other on this issue, I just pointed out Republicans have gone to great lengths to obscure and hide the history that shows they were very involved in oppression/slavery and maintaining it, and they also have history opposing Civil Rights

It's harder today for them to actually do it in the same way they could in the past but there's quite a lot of them who believe certain groups should be oppressed, though saying that it depends on what you consider oppression as I'm 100% quite a few groups would tell you they're being oppressed in one way or another
