if he was playing the suns, allen wouldn't even have had to reverse. he'd just lay it up or dunk.

Your defense of that clip was almost as bad as Kobe's defense of Ray Allen in the clip.

Then take solace in comparing defenses of different teams in the same era, not different eras. Someone may misread your comment about the Suns defense and assume that you are trying to take away from Jordan's greatness. Note that the guy was THAT GOOD that even in today's era of defense, he would adapt and pick it apart just the same.
Today's era of defense wouldn't be 10x more advance if not for the mistakes made by the previous era. Today's coaches damn near owe much of their success to coaches of the past, as it makes their job 10x more easier to not repeat the same damn mistakes.

Today`s Defense is pathetic
Wide Open Lanes
No Contact Allowed for Defenders
5 Second Back to the Basket Rule
No Elite Big Men but Howard
A Feast For Perimeter Players (All Rules Designed to Help Them)
etc

Yup players just waltz right into the paint for wide open layups every possession.

lol @ your ridiculous post. Jordan made the defense LOOK BAD. The defense was fine. Going play by play on MJ's baskets for the first 2/3 of the video:
2:58 - 20-foot pull up off a semi-transition play where Pippen drove and sucked the defense in. Shot was semi-contested. He would get the exact same look today.
3:30 - contested jumper coming off of baseline screens. He'd get the same exact shot off today.
4:26 - contested 3 off of Pippen's drive and kick in transition. He'd get the same exact look today.
5:36 - contested fadeaway jumper as he turns away from the double team to the opposite shoulder. He'd get the same shot today.
6:44 - contested jumper on a quick catch-and-shoot off of off-the-ball movement. He'd get the same exact look today.
7:07 - Open court dunk off a broken play and steal.
8:14 - puts a ridiculous move on KJ in the open court to knife into the seam and finish with the lefty layup. Would get the same shot today.
9:15 - inside shot after recovering the ball off a high alley-oop. Both the initial lob/dunk attempt and the subsequent shot were contested. He would get the same shot today.
9:59 - offensive putback. He'd get these today too.
14:05 - contested layup, gets the rebound, and gets fouled on the putback attempt. He'd get this shot today too - there's no defense for tenacity on the glass.
14:23 - open three off a broken play where the defense was sucked inside due to penetration and crashing the boards. He would get this look today, but it might not be as wide open (still wouldn't be a legitimate shot-contest, though).
15:52 - contested jumper as he spaces well off the BJ drive.
22:13 - well defended and contested lefty layup. He'd get the same exact shot today.
23:11 - an example of the type of play that NO ONE today can make. Masterful basketball. Jordan fakes using the screen, then uses Majerle's vision and momentum against him to flash back to the FT line for the pass, catches it, eludes the reach-in by Ainge, makes an instant move for the pull-up jumper, and when Majerle recovers to contest he hangs, passes off, and instantly cuts to the basket for the perfect give-and-go layup through traffic. Beautiful basketball. lol @ thinking anyone today makes this play the same way.
26:27 - Beautiful contested lefty layup in traffic. He'd get the same look today.
27:03 - quick catch-and-shoot jumper after a beautiful reverse pivot off the ball to lose Majerle along the baseline, causing him to be unable to recover to strongly the shot.
And this doesn't even detail the times he passed off or missed shots. lol @ you acting like that was terrible defense. Just because Jordan - the most skilled player of all time - made it LOOK worse than it was doesn't mean that it's bad. No superstar player today, for instance, can execute the quick catch-and-shoots, off the ball movement, and give and go's seen from Jordan in this game. Things like that are why he made things look easier than they were.
