higher TS% and ORTG as well
and it was more impressive considering he didn't have half the athleticism and played on a torn rotator cuff while having played 6 games in 18 months prior to this season.
and only 3 of his makes in that clip weren't jump shots and maybe a couple of them were uncontested

44 PPG is about what I figured Kobe and certainly MJ would average on Klay Thompson, considering MJ averaged 36/6/7 vs. Clyde Drexler in 1992 Finals... and considering these were MJ's career averages against DPOY wing defenders, let alone Klay:
MJ vs. DPOY Sidney Moncrief: 31.6 PPG
MJ vs. DPOY Michael Cooper: 35.1 PPG
MJ vs. DPOY Alvin Robertson: 34.7 PPG
MJ vs. DPOY Gary Payton: 30.5 PPG
MJ vs. DPOY Dennis Rodman/Joe Dumars: 31.8 PPG
I think MJ and Kobe's averages vs. Klay in the Finals would depend on what their team's NEEDED.. For example, if the Bulls were in perpetual danger of getting overwhelmed by the Warrior's offense like they were in the 1993 Finals vs. Phoenix's juggernaut offense, MJ might need to get 41/9/6 again so the Bulls can keep up.
In the 1993 Finals, the Bulls PPG and ORTg was 106.7 and 113.0, which was EXACTLY the same as Phoenix, so the Bulls offense baaarely succeeded in keeping up.. Every ounce of MJ's 41/9/6 was needed.
Of course, in today's game, MJ would face fewer defenders on the strongside due to weakside floor-spreaders that draw defenders away (spacing).. So his numbers would be much higher.. Infact, since 1-defender strongsides are standard in the current era, the entire game would be based around this - MJ vs. 1-defender strongsides, as seen repeatedly in the Atlanta-Cavs series as well as Game 1 of the NBA Finals:

He didn't need to, and what is Lebron's record in the Finals when scoring 40 or more points vs Kobes? I'll wait.
Kobe scores 40 - team wins in a blowout
Lebron scores 42 (asterisk on the last basket) and his team loses with 0 points in overtime.

He wins 71% of the time?
No team ever let Kobe shoot wide open jump shots, not even when he's past his prime...

If the Warriors came out with the exact same game plan against those two guys, they'd both have a better, more efficient scoring series than Lebron.
35 yr old Kobe cooked Klay Thompson while coming back from two season-ending injuries and while playing with a torn rotator cuff, what makes anyone here think that a prime Kobe wouldn't drop 50-60 points when given 38 shots against those defenders we all saw what he did to prime Bowen, Battier, AK47, Ron Artest, Raja Bell, Marion, he had 40-50 point games against all of them , and they weren't sagging off him and daring him to shoot perimeter shots.

Man, kobe and bran stans really can't agree on anything.
Even a 40+ heavy iso performance in a loss surrounded by scrubs against the same team.
