He’ll face an uphill battle as he battles with Emmanuel Mudiay, who has significantly more NBA experience, for the third point guard spot behind Mike Conley and Dante Exum. But if Williams-Goss can combine improved shooting with his already solid basketball IQ and work ethic, he could very well blossom into the next unforeseen contributor for the Jazz.

Better shooter than either. If Snyder has a clue someone other than Exum will get the minutes

Quote:
If you’d told me that out of the three Utah Jazz second-round picks this summer, the one that was selected last, Miye Oni out of Yale, would be the lone one to make the team with a guaranteed contract, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. After all, Jarrell Brantley seemed a more logical fit to shore up Utah’s forward depth and Justin Wright-Foreman appeared to have greater potential as a scorer coming out of college.

One look at highlites and I said him and Brantley were the ones to watch. After watching in the summer Oni has a better shot and probably can contribute sooner though I think Brantley might be better eventually. Getting hurt probably hurt his chances. The other guy is Burke 2.0. Should have stashed him

Quote:
True, those two won’t be far removed from Oni as they signed two-way contracts to allow them to remain under the Jazz’s watchful eye with the Salt Lake City Stars, but neither impressed as much as Oni. And after watching Miye compete in Summer League, there’s simply no disputing that the Jazz made the right choice.

Should have had Brantley too. Exum needs to go!

Quote:
Bringing in Howard reminds me a lot of when the Jazz took a flier on Royce O’Neale and gave him a chance to compete for a roster spot. At the time, many Jazz fans (myself included) hoped that local standout Joel Bolomboy who played his college ball at Weber State would be the one to lock down the final spot. Instead, O’Neale was impressive and ultimately became the one the Jazz selected. Knowing what we know now, it was easily the correct decision and one that is already paying huge dividends.

O'Neale's contract was guaranteed so not the same. Should have kept Bolomboy too. Exum needed to go!

Quote:
Howard has improved significantly as a shooter, and at six-foot-eight, 205 pounds, he has the makings of being a potentially dynamic stretch-four on the wing. He has the length to defend opposing fours and if his shooting continues to improve, he could very well become a great piece on both ends.

205 at the 4?

Quote:
The final prospective diamond in the rough is Utah’s latest signing Stanton Kidd. Kidd has been around the Jazz for a couple years as he played for the Jazz Summer League team a season ago and put up solid numbers. He struggled to find his shot somewhat in this summer’s edition, but he still made some timely buckets and great plays for his squad.

Exum and Mudiay should be included. They have plenty to prove yet themselves

Quote:
As is the case with all these players, Kidd faces an uphill battle especially on a loaded team with a deep bench. Not only that, but he still has to battle Howard for a spot on the final roster, which will be a challenge in and of itself. Nevertheless, just like all the players on this list, Kidd possesses some critical traits and unique skills that certainly make him diamond in the rough material.

might be battling 2 other guys yet to be named as well

Schwartz walks through the case of client Ricky Rubio, a point guard who needed a new home after two years with the Jazz, who had just traded for Mike Conley Jr. The Indiana Pacers were looking to add a pair of high-impact players, and there was mutual interest in Rubio joining his friend Bojan Bogdanovic on the team. But when Bogdanovic agreed to a four-year deal with the Jazz, Rubio questioned if Indiana was the right fit for him. – via Forbes.com

Rubio and Lamb were just two of more than a dozen Excel clients who agreed to deals during the first 12 hours of free agency worth north of $700 million. Khris Middleton signed a five-year, $178 million extension with the Milwaukee Bucks. Third-year player Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets inked a five-year, $170 million max contract extension. Harrison Barnes got $85 million guaranteed from Sacramento. “In the past you would take your time; you would set up a meeting with a team and make a decision,” says Schwartz. “In this case, it was, ‘Let’s spend $3 billion in under 24 hours and hope we all still like each other in a year.’” – via Forbes.com

Bojan!
