Default A sad day for soccer fans around the world....

I know most of my American brothers here don't watch soccer and or cares but it is a very dark day in the world for soccer fans all around.

Landon Donovan, the greatest American player in history, has ended his international career. A lot of people in the world are shocked.

    The soccer world is shocked.

What part of the world are you in when you heard this news.

Whoa! This seems pretty out of left field.

Was it confirmed that he wasn't starting next month or something? Injury?

So what's the reasoning behind this? Is he having a pitiful start to the season for LA?

He scored 9 goals for Bayer Leverkusen Reserves. Then went back to the USA where he became a minor league legend. I think that's called a reverse Spanoulis.

Let's not compare NBA and Bundesfodder.

I honestly don't think I would know him if I didn't venture onto this site.

I just don't get it, I'd love to hear that it's a chemistry issue or something else because there's no way you're selling me on the notion that there isn't a job for him on this team. I understand we're making way for youth in Julian Green but Landy Cakes can't be a useful sub? I've never liked Landy, seems like a princess to me, but he is fearless in international games and as recently as WCQ was doing things that nobody else on our squad does. Past his prime? Yes. No longer valuable to the national team? Ridiculous. I trust Ku Klux Klinsmann to know what he's talking about but I have a hard time understanding this one. My buddy said it like this "His days of being the best outfielder are over, but I think in a crowded stadium in Brazil, against international all-stars, he would've been one of the best players out there for us... just one less guy who's comfortable with the ball at his feet when the flares go off and the Gerrys charge, and we didn't have many to begin with"

DMB becomes the first american to play (assuming he plays) in four world cups, Deuce become the first american to score (assuming he scores) in three.

It's time for Michael Bradley to take the reigns.
