The same could be said about OJ Mayo. Put him on the Hornets and he would average over 20PPG. As a starter in his rookie and sophomore season he averaged 18.5PPG and 17.5PPG.

Eric Gordon is better right now. but i say don't write off Mayo yet. he just hasn't been in the right position to develop. i still think on the right team Mayo have the potential to play at a high level.

Last season before his bad injury Gordon put up 25, 3 and 5 for the first 3 months. Those are numbers Mayo won't likely ever put up. He was being compared to Brandon Roy. Much better player than Mayo. I expect a huge season for Gordon.

Sure, Mayo would average 20+ on the Hornets, like Gordon did, but would New Orleans still go 6-3 with him?

Gordon is better than Mayo, it isn't even close, day and night really. Better comparisons would be Gordon v Harden v Ellis or Mayo v Martin v Sushi.

Gordon, plus his ceiling is higher.

They both play very good defense although Mayo has the height so he may be more effective at it overall.

I have to add that Gordon has the worst handles of any good guard in the NBA.

Even still, he is better than OJ.

Last time I saw OJ Mayo, he was a role player shooting 27 percent in the playoffs.

Mayo was one of the most over-hyped prospects ever...he's just not that good. Average to below-average first-step, inconsistent jump-shot, and nothing impressive about his court vision and playmaking ability.

Gordon is on a completely different level. This comparison is mute, and it's not really debatable.

I have to add that Gordon has the worst handles of any good guard in the NBA.

ROFL. Take a step into 2012...as you clearly haven't watched Gordon recently. His handles have improved DRASTICALLY.

OJ Mayo:
22.4ppg on 49% shooting with 3.6rpg & 3.1apg

Eric Gordon:
Has not even played a single game this season and has been plagued by injuries most of the time. Last season Gordon only played 9 games and averaged:
20.6ppg on 45% shooting with 2.8rpg & 3.4apg

Who would you take now?

OJ Mayo by a mile , anyone that thought differently looks foolish right now.

Gordon is made out of glass, and doesn't have much heart. You think OJ wasn't suffering coming off a bench in Memphis, but he manned up and owned it to the point where his value was completely destroyed ( look at his current contract)

Gordon who is a franchise player doesn't even want to suit up even when healthy because he plays for what he thinks is a horrid franchise

If were just going on talent/skillset they are super close. OJ is the better shooter, playmaker. Gordon is the better slasher and defender.

But when you look at the big picture not just talent its OJ Mayo by a mile
