Not really new thread worthy, but worth sharing nonetheless - Brent Barry now uses his Dunk Contest trophy as a candy dish:

2003 added to post three. Featuring Jason Richardson, Desmond Mason, Amare Stoudemire, and Richard Jefferson. Very good contest. Great battle between Mason and Richardson.

This contest is often remembered for being won unceremoniously on a Fred Jones missed dunk, leading to the "infinite miss" era in subsequent years.

The 2006 NBA Slam Dunk Contest has been added to post three. It marked the beginning of Nate Robinson's reign of terror.

1995 has been added. It was a Miami Heat sweep that evening:

Also, a seeming rarity these days, Harold Miner did it right. What he's up to these days:
Miner now resides in Las Vegas with his wife, 7-year-old daughter and 3-year-old son. He currently isn't working, and still lives off the over $20 million he made during a brief NBA career which -- unlike many pro athletes -- he managed and invested very diligently.

ESPN.com is celebrating the 30 year anniversary of the first NBA Slam Dunk Contest by creating a dunk bracket, composed of 32 dunks by 32 players. Maddeningly, one must vote via Tweet. So for those who are Twitter-free, no dice. Further, the poll chose Vince Carter's between-the-legs as his dunk, not his clockwise 360 cuff windmill. Still, if you want to give it a look...

    2000 has been added.

Vince Carter's run, of which we've all already seen a million times (with a bonus clip of star players weighing in on Carter's dunking ability prior to the contest): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YbQ2uHQiUs

2002 has been added. Before this year's contest, 2002 was probably best known for containing the worst rule change in history: The Wheel, which essentially sapped Steve Francis of any chance at winning. Nothing like forcing a 6'3'' two-foot jumping guard who can't palm a ball to execute a Statue of Liberty 360 from the dotted line: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K26yoKd4TJo

Jason Richardson emerged victorious on the heels of that nasty bounce reverse swing jam. But it's worth noting a young Gerald Wallace also made a solid run of things.

Also, SBNation had a huge dunk contest blowout, with a lot of cool media on the history of the windmill, players who are pretty much only know because of their dunk contest appearance, and more: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2014/2/1...istory-feature

The 2014 dunk contest discouraged me a little bit, but 2005 has since been added to page 1. The victor, of course, was Josh Smith.

The contest also featured younger-appearing versions of these two:

I remember those contests with J-Rich and Mason in the early 2000's. They were truly the last great Slam Dunkers.

Yeah there was a thread that popped up a month ago asking for each of our top five dunks from contests between 2001-20013 and I began to realize my top five was pretty much just made up of various Desmond Mason and Jason Richardson flushes.
