In terms of talent and physical ability, Demarco Murray is somewhere around the 5th-10th best RB in the NFL (when healthy). His combination of size, speed and strength is really impressive. If he stays healthy all year he will put up top 5 numbers for sure.

Less carries = less yards.

In a shocking development, Demarco Murray is injured and will probably miss 2-4 weeks.

Demarco Murray top 5 but he might get replaced.

Quote:
DeMarco Murray is expected to miss some time with an MCL injury, but the Dallas Cowboys might be looking to permanently replace the running back.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network's "NFL GameDay Morning" that the Cowboys no longer are sold on Murray as a franchise running back. The Cowboys have had internal discussions about upgrading the position, "possibly in a big way" as we gear up to the trading deadline, Rapoport reported.

Murray has been the Cowboys' best running back since being drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, and it really hasn't been close.

Murray earned 84 percent of the Cowboys' rushing yards and 75 percent of the carries through six weeks this season. The Cowboys don't have another healthy runner who can create creases and churn out yards.

The problem has been Murray's inability to stay healthy. He missed nine games in his first two seasons, and he might be out two to four weeks with his most recent knee injury, Rapoport reported.

It's a slight surprise to hear the Cowboys would like to move on from Murray, but his injuries have undercut his productivity. Getting a running back who can stay healthy, carry the load and take some of the pressure off Tony Romo appears to be what Jerry Jones now is chasing.

Someone wrote an article a couple days ago about the Vikes trading Peterson in a Hershall Walker type deal. Because they are done

Peterson could probably snag a first and a third or something like that...

Perfect place for Peterson right now?...Dallas

And Jerry is the owner to do that...but not in a stupid way like the Palmer trade.

Two firsts is too much for Peterson, who probably only has 3 prime years left.

I don't think the Cowboys can handle a 14, 15 million cap hit on top of what they already have. It's being reported they are 39 mil over the 2014 cap already.

They would get out of a future first round pick salary though...tgat would help

I don't even like to pay attention to cap stuff because it always gets worked around. The Eagles were way over and signed every big name FA somehow.

Perhaps Romo and Witten take a huge cut or something...idk

art of being a Top 5 player at any position is the ability to stay on the field. Murray has never established that.
