People dont use them to play basketball with, its more of a lifestyle thing. You wont see kids at the gym rockin some retro 3's playing basketball, but you go out to the bar on a weekend and you will see people rockin them out there

Remember when Converse sponsored Wade and the shoes were mad cheap but still good quality. Wish another star in the league would do that, but it won't happen

I wish they would just permanently bring back all the old Jordans.

I was watching this and the guy goes "$125, at it's price point you really can't go wrong"

....wtf? Why are we being charged these amounts for a bunch of plastic mass produced in a factory that cost 5 bucks to manufacture?

I see these "Jordan retros" come out every once in a while going for 170 bucks....wtf? Limiting quantity on decades old shoes to give off the image that they are some exclusive commodity like a rare painting or some sh!t...

It's just ridiculous that every halfway decent performance bball sneaker is coming out for 140+ bucks when these things are no harder or more expensive to make than box of tissues.
    You don't understand biness bruh.

This is actually one of the most ignorant poasts in history.

(And for one, it doesn't cost 5$ to "make " a pair. It's more)

TOTAL FIXED COSTS is a term you should google.

Advertising, marketing, shipping, paying American employees "real" money , paying athletes hundreds of millions a year for endorsement.

Giving away THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of shoes, gear, to pro athletes and college teams.

IT DOESNT COST 5$ to "make" a pair of shoes. A business has lots of other costs to absorb than just the cheap labor and cheap materials.

Learn some real biness. Smh. Smh. Smh.

It's just like saying you own a trucking conpany and all you gotta do is pay your drivers 20$/hr. And it would only cost you the 80 hours of labor for the driver I drive from la to New York.

And not pay for your employers meals, gas, hotel , the 200k for the semi and thousands of dollars of year maintenance on semi. Licensing. Etc

Or like thinking when you crop 10 ps all 20,000 is profit.

Not taking total cost of initial 20,000 lights, ventilation , filter investment.

    Mortgage payment every month.

    Light bill every month

    Water bill every month.

    Nutrients every crop.

Labor costs to pay trimmers. Etc. etc. etc.

    TOTAL FIXED COSTS.

    Learn some business.

    GTFO.

One thing I don't get about Jordan Retros. I see people buy them but they never play in them. I have even heard that some of them get worn out easily despite being great basketball shoes.

Same with Nike foamposites. I remember talking to a dude who had a sick fire colorway on his foamposites and he played a few games of ball. I asked him if they are comfortable. He said they weren't at all but they provided great ankle support.

op is spot on. its celebrity salesmanship and people eat it up so what are you gonna do? i like the analogy to a rare painting since that was precisely nike's goal when they started this retro marketing stuff. if i didn't feel it was so perverted, i might just consider those campaigns admirable.

last two pairs of sneakers i got cost me $1/each. buy one get the second, from our selection of shit, for a buck. i followed a friend in haha. but they continue to serve me well, one pair of underarmor runners, one pair of no name basketball shoes.

I remember buying a pair of Nike Air Max 90 for the first time at outlet. But I wanted something better and got Kobe's for the first. Then, I wanted Jordans. Sneakerheads just want something bigger and better everytime they buy a new pair. The hype train just gets bigger and bigger.

Plus the quality is going down, no more leather, all cheap synthetics / plastics.
Because playing in bulky leather bball shoes sucks. Go play in those old leather Jordan 1s vs the new kobes or Jordans and theres a massive difference in comfort/weight/everything.

They're not worth it, just get the Mentality 2's. Same/Slightly better performance for half the price at $100 or lower.
