Great comparison. Two of the best franchises in the league. Only thing to note is those 9 seasons in the ABA really skew those numbers in the Spurs favor. Both teams clearly benefitted from a top 10 all time great. Shows the importance of nailing the top 3-4 picks in the lottery.

Yep, the thing that suprised me the most though, is that in 47 seasons the spurs never missed the playoffs 2 years in a row. That is simply amazing.

The Aba numbers are weird though cause the spurs had a 30-54 record and still made the playoffs one year

IMO the Bulls aren't a great franchise. Got lucky Jordan became the player he did then Krause managed to fall out with Jordan, Pippen and Jackson. Since Jordan retired they've made the East Finals once, and they were lucky to get Derrick Rose.

Outside of lucking out with Jordan, the bulls are absolutely no different than the Hawks as a franchise. That's the brutal truth. The bulls are a pretty bad franchise

The whole "Bulls got lucky getting Jordan" is laughable. Bulls also were smart enough to trade for Pip on draft night and gave Phil a head coach job when he couldn't get one anywhere else in the NBA.

Jordan and company got beat by an Orlando team who got embarrassed by Houston. Who knows what would have happened? Jordan didn't have what it took to keep pressing through and winning, thus he retired not once, not twice, but three times. I don't believe Jordan 8-peats...lots of people have 3-peated, but it's another entire level to 4-peat, 5-peat, much less 8-peat.

If you think about it, the Spurs were MUCH closer to 5-peating than the Bulls were to 8-peating.
