Default What do you think of Brian Shaw as a coach?

Asking because he may soon become Luke Walton's lead Lakers assistant:

What do I think of Brian Shaw? Pretty simply: A pretty good assistant coach by all accounts, but looked overawed in his first head coaching stint (can't write him off but he didn't look great as a HC). Without condemning completely, a good assistant coach that didn't look all that great as a head coach.

Reasonably happy to have him back, though I hope the team makes a big offer to Adrian Griffin if he doesn't get one of the head coaching jobs (hopefully outbid him if the TWolves/Thib come calling).

Build the best organisation structure (which starts with the FO being organised and building the first class coaching lineup) the players and results will eventually follow, you have to spend to be a success in elite sports and especially in the staff/coaching department. We need a defensive specialist (Griffin) and I'd really love for them to make a big offer to Blatt to join the staff as well, though he may not accept just another assistant coach position, I'd spend a fortune to get a coaching triumvirate of Blatt; Messina and Griffin (with Shaw seeing as he's already hired) but I think they would all want to be head assistant/associate head coaches at the minimum...but doesn't hurt offering them a truckload of money to see

I think he is adequate but I strongly believe that they should not just stop there but also invest heavily and hire the best available ones like
    1. David Blatt.
    2. Randy Whitman.
    3. Ron Adams.
Ron Adams is currently with GSW(one the best defensive teams), this guy is one of the biggest reasons why Thibs looked so good at Chicago.
Thibs himself was one of the reasons why Jeff Van Gundy looked so good at NY, Houston, why Rivers looked great at Boston.
Phil needed Tex Winter and his triple post.
Mike Brown looked good bec he had Mike Malone
Riley looked good with JVG etc etc
My point almost every GREAT COACH, relied heavily on the greatness of their assistant coaches. Lakers can't afford to be cheap and must put Walton and these young team in a best position to succeed.
